I did not know for sure if it is a boot or not. I bought it back from P-D, and He said it was a boot. I told everyone that I did not know if it was a boot or not, and I informed everyone that pm ed me about it that I was unsure if it was a boot or not.

It has the correct NGH-numbers on all the chips, and it does not contain any Eproms, so how can it be a boot?

by the way here is a pic of the boards:

The boards dont say SNK, but everything looks legit, no hand solder jobs, no wires going everywhere......

HPMAN and a few others will be much better at this than me, but the chips do seem legit its the boards that aren't...maybe a reverse conversion? I really have no idea, are all the chips Toshiba chips?

While I'm no expert at spotting the boots, this particular Slug cart strikes me as being odd-especially given the fact that the boards that have any SNK insignias...it just looks strange for some reason. It could very well be legit for that matter, but I'll reserve judgement until someone like HPMAN can confirm.

I will check when I get home about the chip manf. All the chips have a long number and then the NGH number, I dont remember anything specific.

I do not plan to sell a boot to anyone on these boards as an original, P-D told me about his concerns about the game, so I gave him a 100% refund. I myself believe that its original since everything looks right.

If the boards are not marked SNK, then it's a boot. Maybe a good boot, but......

Not necessarily depending on your definition of bootleg. It is possible to have completely real chips on a nonSNK board.

I have to open my cart tonight, for some reason I thought MS1 had Nazca on the board, not SNK... or was that Neo Turf Masters?

Clearly a bootleg...chips are not Toshiba, PCBs are unoriginal...there's even a series of ICs on what's supposed to be the CHA board that are not present on the original, etc.

Just popped mine open and the board says SNK not Nazca, both boards are SNK with Toshiba chips, and they don't appear to be the same as the ones in his picture. I can't really make out what his say, but they appear different from the original Toshibas in mine. Also the chip set looks different. As in on the top board one of his chips is in a different position than on my original, and on the bottom board he has a series of smaller rectangular chips not on my original. I'm no expert at boots, just describing what my original Metal Slug looks like.

Any chance you could post some close-up pics of the board so we can see the soldering? If it looks like it's been done by hand then it is almost certain to be a boot (or at least none SNK).

I hate to say it looks to me like you are just attempting to save your butt. I'm sure the majority of people on the boards will forgive you they always do accept in a few major cases.

I can guarantee that the Metal Slug board you have pictured is a BOOTLEG. I have one that looks exactly the same which I bought from HK a long time ago, before I knew any better. I have compared my bootleg version to the original legit version I used to own (which I sold to a member of the forum already), and the differences are easily noticed between the two.

it´s a boot,

I can tell you, because this prog board looks very similar to the original SNK ones, so the be legit this board should have an original SNK PCM chip. The PCM chip is a SNK custom chip, the only manufacturer of these chips was SNK.

Looks like your board has a different manufacturer for the PCM chip, thus its a boot

I am sorry for trying to sell a boot, as I only listed it as it appered original to me, but I made sure and told everyone that pmed me about it that I was unsure of its originality.
