You'll probably like the second one more, most people do.

I like them both although the first one has the edge and has two bosses instead of one plus each fighter has their own backdrop The boss in last blade 2 isnt as hard to beat either

last blade = best fighting game of all time

the roker = biggest Last Blade fanboy

I think LB2 is a good sequel, but I find it more of a compliment to the series rather than a true sequel. One of the things that was missing in LB2 was a stage for each character, rather they share then LB2, kind of taking away from the atmosphere of the game.

LB2 is also good though, you shouldn't miss out on it, but LB1 has better atmosphere, less combo reliant gameplay, and better backgrounds and intros.

Most people people like the first Last Blade more from what I have read, including me.

I disagree, Last Blade 2 is a much harder game overall and the boss in Last Blade 2 is much harder to beat then the boss in Last Blade. Musashi is a pushover, all you have to do is wait for him to do his overhead strike and block it, after this there will be a slight lag time before he can do another move which allows you to do a combo or DM. Musashi is very lazy when it comes to blocking, he leaves himself open all the time. Kagami in the second round can pose a bit of trouble sometimes but still nothing that hard to deal with.

I own both Last Blade and Last Blade 2 and like both of them for different reasons. Last Blade seems better to me because I am sucker for atmosphere. The atmosphere in Last Blade 2 does not hold a candle to the atmosphere found in Last Blade. The backgrounds, the music, and the overall presentation of Last Blade is better. Don't get me wrong, Last Blade 2 still has great backgrounds and music but they are not in the same league as Last Blade. I love the music the starts to play as text is shared between characters in the last round before the boss fight, the music that begins as the second round against Kagami starts up, the music at the ending, the wonderfully orchestrated intro etc. Although gameplay wise, Last Blade 2 outshines Last Blade 1. The addition of air recovery as well as being able to recover when hitting the ground is a huge plus. The new characters, namely Hibiki and Setsuna are wonderful additions and both characters have great depth, especially Hibiki. Last Blade 2 also has some wonderful backgrounds in its own right such as the fire and forest stages. The addition of EX mode which is a combination of both speed and power mode is also a huge plus for Last Blade 2. I find that for two player Last Blade 2 is a lot more fun but for the single player experience Last Blade is better. To answer your question, yes, if you are a Last Blade fan both are must haves.

I give the nod to LB1. I used to play them both back to back and LB1's play is just more fluid..LB2 is good but it won't go down as a "classic" title imo.
I am also not a fan of starting off as Awakened Kaede in LB2

Yes, Kaede was a lot cooler in the first one. It was cool transforming mid match and whipping the shit out of you opponent with a more aggressive Kaede.

For the longest time, SS1 was my fav fighter until I got SS2.

Now for the longest time of owning SS2, my favorite fighter is now Last Blade.

Everyone I know who played it loved it immediately.

Minor threadjack time!

What's the deal with Mukuro anyway? I don't know the story from the first one, so I have no idea where he came from.

Last Blade ahhh the memorys that game brings back to me I see the last blade series as the true sequels to the samari showdown series after samari showdown 2.
Hey I just got an idea would'nt it be just excellent if snk made a samari showndown vs Lasblade game seeing as how those games are not included already in the kof series?

Very interesting concept, but I think Samurai Spirits and Last Blade have two very different styles of play. Last Blade is quicker, combo based, where Samurai Spirits is slower paced and more of a fencing match then anything else.

I'm sure they could make it work if they made the game from ground up, instead of sprite ripping. They'd just have to take elements essiential to both series and combine them into one game.

I think they should just switch over the play mechanics to LB1 type gameplay and include the POW bar instead of the current bar in the LB series.

Just wishful thinking anyway.

Shikyo from LB! is supposed to be a mass murderer only interested in prey that can fight with great skill and intensity such as himself.
Murkuro? I believe he is a DEAD assassin with the same agenda as Shikyo. More deadly and psychotic.
I like Shikyo better...

I like Shikyoh has by far the best stage intro I've ever seen in fighting game. I don't think any other intro captures the character of a game better.

Its funny how some people say last blade 2 is hardest and others say last blade is hardest

I guess it just depends on what type of fighter you are

i think both games look fantastic but the fact each fighter has their own backdrop in the original gives it added atmosphere, the intro level screens are great too

certainly the most detailed fighters on the neo geo and anywhere else for that matter when it comes to 2d

still cant beat shodown 2 for gameplay though.

So they aren't the same person then? After seeing Shikyo I figured something happened in the first game to turn him into Mukuro. Guess they're just really similar designs. Shikyo is a lot cooler.

It's more like Mukuro is just a sprite rip of Shikyoh with some new frames.

No, I think Shikyo = Mukuro.

I think Shikyo was killed in the first one, but was ressurected when the shit hit the fan.

Shikyo snuffs it at the end of last blade 1. I believe Mukuro was brought about because Shikyo was such a popular character; they wanted him in 2, but couldn't because he was clearly dead.

Thing is: why not bring him back? If Geese Howard could survive a few tall building falls, who says Shikyo couldn't be magically resurrected?

The music and intro are really cool in part 2, as is the addition of Setsuna and Hibiki. The bgs are nice, but not as nice as the perfection of LB1.

They don't make games like LB1/2 any more! ;)

Seriously, I love the series (if 2 games make a series). They are both great games, I can never get sick of it. I remember buying LB1 blind from NCS and when I put it in, I was like holy crap, this is an incredible game! And to this day, the only real port of the game is for the Japanese PSOne...

Anyway, I love both 1 and 2. I thought 2 has alittle better backgrounds and give you more moves, but 1 is the original and I like its simplicity alittle more.

So you will probably love both and as time goes, more and more crappy fighting games are made today, and you will ask yourself, "Why aren't there great fighters like Lastblade made anymore?"

:crying:
