This was long expected, but Just heard that GC is now officialy $99. Would that incl the GBA player package? If so, I am definitely picking one up.

I believe its just the system itself, they are just taking the free gameboy player off.

Its probably just the system itsself but a good deal none the less.

If anyone reading this doesnt have a Cube yet I suggest you go get one, this is truly the best deal ever for a system so far. Not many good games but the good ones are GREAT!.

Next to the Neo and DC this is the only console I have left and will never part with it.

It's actually almost got more expensive. When I bought my second Cube two months ago to take to college, I got my choice of 4 games or the GB Player (got the GBP), a free WaveBird, and that Demo Disc.

So consider the demo disc to be 10 bucks (even though Best Buy sells them for 40 :oh_no: ) I got 50 dollar value on GBP, 30-35 dollar value on WaveBird, and 10 bucks for the disc. Knock that minimum 90 bucks off the 149.99 system price and I got my system for 59.99

that's pretty good deal. Sadly, my SvC preorder doesn't let me enough money to buy a GC game, so....

Quick question:

Seeing how the Platinum model was a "Limited Edition" color, are they planning on releasing any new system colors here in the U.S. in the near future? I don't know...the black and indigo jsut don't do anything for me.

what about the "light green" tales of Symphonia (spelling?) system?

or was that Jpn only?

I doubt they will release any other colors... although you'd be surprised. there are a few controller colors as well.

The gamecube at $99 is an awesome price. THere is no reason to hold back if you don't already own this masterpiece system. I wonder though what will happen to the GBA Sp, will it reduce in price at all?

Interesting question, but why would they lower the price of the SP when they have no competition at all, so they can keep that price and it would still sell like cakes....

Dont know if any of you are familiar with Game Crazy or not (thoes little video game stores that are popping up in Hollywood Video's across the country) but they sell used GCs for 69.99 and if you know somebody that works there (like yours truely) with the discount the system becomes the magicaly low low price of 54.99. No lie. I know what I'm buying everybody for christmas.

Always wanted one, and now at this price, I can't resist...
$140 CDN, and the store I bought it from gave me a deal of half off any used game... So it was only $15 CDN for Metroid! How could I say no?
Platinum GC with Metroid for $115 US... I am so so happy! Now to get FZero...
This will be an interesting Christmas... if Nintendo can keep them on the shelves!

I agree, you would be a fool NOT to own a GCN now. There's enough great games on the system to warrant a purchase at this price. Hell, as others have said, I had one when it first came out and think the money was good. With what's out now, only to add the new Star Wars RL game, with Mario Kart, RE4, and so on, why would you NOT want one? I mean, price? Not an issue.

I stopped by Wal-Mart last night on my way home from work to pick up some headphones and noticed all the Gamecubes were sold out at $99. If Nintendo's in 3rd place (and it seems to vary depending on where you look if they're in 2nd or 3rd) they'll be taking 2nd VERY soon, given Xbox's current price and lack of killer software on the horizon. Don't get me wrong, the Xbox will probably do a price drop, too, but wasn't MS eating $100 per system when they were $300?

I don't think this hurts Nintendo's finances as much as people make it out to. The fact they didn't throw in a bunch of unneccessary crap like a DVD player into the hardware means less of a loss per system.

I'd heard reports at launch (both systems came out in the same week) that Nintendo made small profits on each system sold (probobly as little as a few dollars) while XBox sold at a loss of reports saying anywhere between 50 and 150 bucks.

i actully talked with a nintendo rep at my work and she said that nintendo did not make that much off the systems but still made some profit and if you think about it this has been the price for awile just witout a free game as 149.99+free 49.99 gbaplayer where this way you choose whether or not to get gbplayer or game with now if i could only find one of those mario sunshine packs.
