Im at school and my assignment is to make this thing a domain.

I can only find how to make it a member of a domain, but how can I make it a domain that other computers would join in order to like make a mini lan?

Heh.. heh.. heh..

If I told you that, it wouldn't be any work. ;)

Try the old "Configure your server" panel.

Just set up Active Directory... simple stuff really. Go through the wizard in Configure your server... just go down the list and you will be up and running in a few hours.

When we did our Windows 2000 server project.... everything installed..... so that you could edit on the fly without the CD.

You probably missed a few of the changes that you could do so that you didn't need to always reference the CD.

See, kernow knows what I needed.

Thanks buddy.

Well, shit. I got to the part where it asks to setup the DNS and it still asked for the setup CD. Fucking hell, I dont want to have to download a pirated copy of this, but I might have to.

dang... don't they provide you with enough CD's??!

BTW... it sounds like you did a messed up installation.
ALL THAT should be installed on your server already.

Yeah... but 2k3 cannot be that much different.

I mean.. there will be new features...securities, add configurations..etc..but nothin mind blowing.

Well the domain thing is all setup, I think the thing it was asking for was a program to configure the DNS thing in a wizard instead of manually, or thats what it told me.

Domain- SNK-NG

If you are creating an ADS domain, you need DNS. Without it it won't work at all.

Active Directory Services, its a database that allows you to manage computers/user accounts/group policies/restrictions bla bla bla yawn zzz wheres hendrix zz, if you are going to be controlling clients in a domain, you are probably needing ADS, which consequently needs the DNS service.
