what mods have you seen on these pads.... YET they still work for the neo CD system.. IE not modding them for other systems.

I ran into an ODD controller....

I'll have to drop pics sometime soon... BUT... on the side facing towards you (not the bottom or top... top meaning where the buttons and controls are).... but on the side facing you when you hold the controller normally.... there is a port that looks like you would plug another controller into.

Whats up with that?!

In fact... the controller connection (that would go to the system) actually fits in it like it would an extension cable.

anyone know?

kinda like the old MS Sidewinder pads where theres an extra port excepts its on the bottom instead of the top?
3do is the same way i believe?
that what youre talking about?

possibly modded the controller so they could use it on the PC for emulation purposes?
old proto joypad where they were debating linking controllers to each other possibly?
or maybe used in a store setup so the controller locked right into the extra port kinda like a desktop cell phone charger?
or maybe someone put that on the bottom just so they could use their own extra long joystick cord instead of linking the controller cord to an extension?

those 4 are about the only guesses ive got and theyre all pretty wacko guesses
top one sounds best to me, but im no controller guru to know how hard thatd be

If u r talkin abt using 'other' joypad/controller on NeoCD system, the answer is u need to power it up with 5+V on all connection.

Form your description, I have no clue, gotta see pics... Looks like somebody wanted to use the pad as a bridge to use other controllers on the Neo, which is stupid since the Neo uses direct binary inputs...

It would make sense to have something like this done in a PSX pad, that would allow you to use Neo controllers in the PSX.

Looks the same way 3DO controllers connected (but vice-versa - 3DO controller connector was on top).

Have you tried linking another CD Pad to it and seeing if it works on 2-Player? Just curious.

This doesn't make any sense...

Try to connect a Neo controller to the pad and the pad to the Neo, and see if the controller you plugged works (I think it would be impossible that it works as 2 player). In that case the pad would work just as a controller extension cable.

Another possibility would be that plugging there a PC controller extension cable, it would work in the PC, but this is very unlikely.

Unless I can examine that controller or at least see inside pics I can only speculate.

Now I get it.

Somebody wanted to use the pad upside down, so they did that.

Anyway, open it up and see how its wired.

That was the first thing that came to my mind to.

I always hated playing two player on the 3DO, me and my friend would always end up tangled in the cords.

I hated the way 3DO did that, but at least you did not have to buy a Multi-Tap like PS :glee: I doubt it would work as 2 player, it was just a thought though! Maybe it was a botched mod of a CD Pad for some unknown reason. :spock:
