There's no concrete answer yet, so enjoy the current releases in the meantime!

Even if the Neo MVS were to die, there's no need to abandon it. Sure, there would be no more new releases, but just think, you'd have an entire library of over 100 games to keep you busy playing and collecting!

good point but it is a shame that the system has held its own for 12years and seems it is finally coming to an end

have to wait and see what happens

Granted, I'm not thrilled about the prospect of the MVS dying and SNKP moving on to new hardware, but in the grand scheme of things, SNKP needs to do this in order appease the mainstreamers in order to be a solvent company. In a perfect world, I would love to see them stay on MVS, but I remain hopeful that the statement made by the Neostore earlier in the year about SNKP supporting the MVS for the next 4-5 years are true.

For the record, I don't plan on buying Atomiswave hardware or games. To me, Neo Geo will always be represented by the MVS, not some Dreamcast-variant hardware.

i have lost count the amount of times i have read threads that either mvs is dead aes is dead and the neo is dead yet games are still being made so untill that stops the mvs will continue, after all if the mvs dies so will the aes as the companies make most of their money on the mvs sales so hardly going to go out of their way just to make the games on aes only there simply is no logic in it.

anyway while i got a supergun i dont mine as long as the games come in jamma form ;)

Exactly.
THe bottomline is not to worry so much about whether the Neo will be supported in the next few months or whatever. The existing games and your collection will still be here and there are likely tons of games you don't yet own.

Just enjoy what you have now. No need to get caught up in what SNKP's plans are for the future!

Whether the MVS is dead or not is up to you. It is prety much a matter of opinion, but I would have to say that even if new carts stopped being made, this site will still be here. There will always be collectors getting into and getting out of neo geo collecting. There will be some people saying its dead because there are no new games being made for it and such, but who cares. I still see Neo Geo cabs around pretty often, which means that they still must make operators a decent amount of money, enough to keep them from being conversion victims.

I have yet to master the games that I own and I only own about 15 of them.

The Neo is still a VERY YOUNG system for me. Hell...I only started this hobby in 2000.

I've got 10 more years of games to catch up on!

*Waits for JHendrix*

Seriously, the MVS hardware must come to an official end at some point, it's just a question of when. I'm amazed it lasted this long, but not disappointed. Let's just hope SNK-P makes a good choice when choosing a home for the next generation of games.

Dead is such a harst term, regardless of wether or not new games get produced for it, the Neo will never die.

Look back at all the great games that are available for the system.

While the PS2 gets that many games made a month, how many of them are truly great?

MOTW, AOF3, Last Blade, Samurai Shodown 2, Real Bout 2, Metal Slug....those game will surely stand the test of time. What about Magical Drop 3? Puzzle Bobble? While those are not known to most gamers outside of the Neo, they too will still be great 10 years from now.

Regardless of if the system is on active duty or not the Neo is very much alive, this has been the best year for the Neo Geo in terms of great games since 99 yet I do feel as if next year may be it's last.

As long as we have all these great classics available to us the Neo will never die.

The move to Atomiswave will with out a doubt be a great idea IMO but at the same time I dont want the inevitable end of the Neo Geo's releases.

Old game systems never die...for most people, they don't even fade away :glee:

In my recent trip to the Vegas AMOA Trade show I couldn't help but notice how much retro is really in. Namco is re-making a duo Space Invaders/Qix like they did with the Ms. Pac Man/Galaga Reunion cabinet...they even re-made the classic Atari big cocktail table football game, complete with track balls.

Surely if these games can be sold to today's public, then the MVS has years left in it :buttrock:

Even if Playmore's moving to another system, I hope we'll see good games from other game companies. Look at what hapened with the Dreamcast; after Sega left it, we saw games by Treasure, SNK and G-rev being released and it's not over. I think it will be the same with the MVS (It's in the hand of Playmore to allow third parties to release on MVS). I think we don't have to worry.

Man if it turns out to be the case, it’s a real sad goodbye to an old friend, but as far as I'm concerned it's not gonna just up 'n' die! Yes it's existence will be altered, but think about platforms like Capcom CPS-1 and 2 which are dead (long dead in some cases), but still get play and some titles are highly collectable and NOT cheap to get one's hands on! The MVS will join the other legendary Arcade platforms that will live on as old gods that carved themselves a big slice of the action and it can not be denied in the case of the Neo! Thinking about it like this makes me feel better about it and I think it’s a pretty logical view to take. As far as Atomiswave goes, I love gaming 'Hardware' in general and as long as they stick with the little ROM blocks carts with no load times rather than mass produced cheap CD/GD/DVD media I'm happy. I just don’t appreciate the value of traditional recordable media, ROM chips all the way!!!!:buttrock:

With SNKP not even announcing an MVS cart for SVC, they've started to put this question in people's heads.

I'd give it another 2 years. (yes you heard me right) I don't think next year will be the last. I have a feeling we may still see a few games in 2005, but of course this is pure speculation.

I only have 5 ngh games and 4 mvs games....

As far as the neo geo life...I am barely born, lol

anyways...screw the term dead! So says a loving Dreamcast owner! If they stop making games for it, imo, that will kinda suck..

...but I couldn't even name all of the neo games, let alone imagine owning them and having enough time to play them all out.
