My personal favorite is either Iron Tank for the old NES or any of the Metal Slug games. I remember many a night spent as a kid trying to get through Iron Tank and I was so happy when I finally beat it. I still break out the old NES and pop that game in. Ahhhhh, meeeemorieeees.:crying:

oooh easy

Samurai Showdown 4 and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special:buttrock:

SS4 because i was in elementart when i first played it and my brother and I always played at this Arcade.

RBFFS also due to the fact that this game had the greatest soundtrack out for any fighter and the announcer was cool!:buttrock: :buttrock:

Iron Tank? Now THAT was one tough NES game!

For me, I'd have to say on the NES it was either Ikari Warriors or P.O.W. I'd play Ikari Warriors for hours with my brother or whenever friends came over. Who could forget the frustration that ensued thanks to the button combo that SNK saw fit to include to exit your tank! B then A would allow you to exit your tank safely--however, A then B would SELF DESTRUCT your tank. I lost count at the number of times my buddies got this combo wrong, and usually at some crucial part of the game! :)

For the Neo, I remember playing Baseball Stars Pro for the first time in 1991 and I was literally blown away. While I could not afford a Neo for at least a decade, my goal was always to have my own copy of Baseball Stars and my own Neo. Great memories!

My fave game is easily KoF '97, but my fondest neo memory dates back to the night of my graduation in 1996:

The school threw us an all-night party on campus, so we basically had all sorts of food, games, a mini-casino, and of course... a free play arcade. Most of the games were full of bugs (Especially the SF II cab), but I remember throwing down with my friends on some classic Samurai Showdown 1.

To this day Charlotte is still my favorite fighter... I kicked many an ass with her.

Ikari Warriors, another great game. I actually liked 2 better (don't hate me:D ) but they both were great. Much like you, I have always wanted a Neo, I could just never afford it when I was younger. I'm sorry to have missed it in it's heyday, but it's still easy to find games for.

Spending the whole night playing Samura Shodown I on the 3DO with a few buddies.

We probably played for 6-8 hours, consumed 10 bags of chips, and drank a few gallons of coke, pepsi, mt. dew.

For NES I'd go with Crystalis, then for the Neo Samurai 4 was the first game I played the living hell out of.

I'm impressed with anyone who can beat Iron Tank... that's one of the few NES games I simply could not beat as a kid. I haven't gone back and tried it again, but I remember that there was a small but insanely stupid portion of a stage late in the game where I died every time I reached it, no matter how I played.

First game I took notice of SNK was Ikari Warriors arcade. I bought the NES one and Iron Tank also. My favorite NES game from them though was Crystalis. Awesome action RPG. Where was my Neo or Pocket version :(

First Neo Game that I played was Nam 75. Loved it. First Neo game that made mw want to own a NGH or Cab was Samurai Shodown.

My cousin bought the 3DO thinking it was the revolution in gaming (god I wish he thought the Neo Geo was instead!), so me and my friends pitched in some money for another controller (daisy chain linking) and he bought the game.

We played the hell out of it.

Herzog Zwei was made by Technosoft, not SNK.

My fondest memory was playing SS in the Montgomery Mall arcade against a korean girl who went to Richard Montgomery High School. Her name was Genie Kim/Park/Lee - one of those three. And very cute (but not hot. Asian chicks are rarely hot, unless like the one in Rush Hour 2).

I think that was my first real crush. Of the subsquent times I played her, I never asked her for her number.

Which is really sad considering I have no qualms asking chicks for their numbers now. Why was I shy back then?

One memory that sticks with me happened around 91-92. I was on my way to an air show with my father and my cousin. On the way there we stopped at a 7-11 and I talked my father into buying me a GamePro magazine.
Inside was screen shots for Art of Fighting and it blew my 12 year old mind.
That was probably the first moment I discovered the Neo Geo.

After some more checking up on the Neo I found the system was $600 and the games were $200. I wanted one badly, but I didnt even bother asking for one for christmas because I knew $600 was way over my mother's x-mas budget.
Funny thing, when I finally did get a Neo Geo home system many years later, my mother happened to see it one day and asked me "What the hell is that?" :D

Ikari Warriors, my friend's basement, hours at a fucking time. That was my first intro to shooters and I loooved it.

I think my next fondest is the first time I ever played KOF 2000 in the arcade. I just looked over at a kid playing Soul Edge or some shit and just thought, "sucker."

Crystalis is one of my favorite games on the NES. I still own a copy, but I've never finished it. The battery is fried and won't hold saved games anymore. One of these days I'll marathon it, just to see the ending.

Other than that, Mark of the Wolves and Last Blade 2. I bought those for my Dreamcast, and I've been into 2d fighters ever since.

I used to bowl in a league when I was 14. At the bowling alley was a 4 slot mvs with Fatal Fury, League Bowling, Cyber Lip, and something else, I can't remember.

I do remember the countless times that I asked my mom for a quarter, savoring the sweet sweet gameplay that would last me about 8 to 10 minutes.

My fondest memories though come from staring at the demonstrations for each game. When you just sat there, staring at the game, thinking wow, if I only had a quarter, I could be playing! I remember scrounging underneath every machine, combing every inch of that arcade for a renegade quarter.

Inbetween those times, I also remember poking my finger in the memory card slot and wanting to bring headphones to the bowling alley just to hook them up to the Neo.

Now I'm 26, I have a job that pays real money, and I have an aes. The memories come rushing back to me like a flood, and it makes me nostalgic for the good old days of gaming.

So in a way, every memory is my fondest memory.
