In your gaming history experience, what's the most saddest sequence in a videogame have you seen?...

I remember two:
FFIX - >>spoiler<< When Dagger/Garnet's stepmother queen lies dying in the beach... Damn~:crying:~Square made the atmosphere in that sequence really sad... Made me feel like crying...
Chrono Trigger - >>spoiler<< When you finish the game with Crono dead... Marle stands under a white, snowy tree in the night... Not terribly tragic, but when she saw a shadow of Crono and tried to run after it, that was kinda sad...

Plus, Yasunori Mitsuda's score really helps with the mood...

The bad ending in Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest. All that work for Simon, and he had to die, plus the sad music... it did make me weep.

Getting through Mario 1, that giga bowser at the end was insane. You just took a look at him and were like "Woah"

The hammers and the fire I mean, come on.

In Super Metroid when the giant metroid dies giving Samus's suit the last of its power before Mother Brain kills it.

I believe I actually said "you're gonna die b***h!"...

...and justice was indeed served:cool:

SPOILERS ABOUND

I would have to say when Alys from Phantasy Star IV died. And then again when you had to fight her shadow as Chaz. The Final Fantasy 6 opera house scene was also a pretty good one. And who could forget the many times Geese as fallen to his death...the tears just kept on coming. Not going to bother naming the obvious ones already listed.

Saddest sequence was the death of Ryu's father in Ninja Gaiden. :( Aeris was a close runnerup I guess. Also, I'm pretty sure that the ending of Crystalis would have been sad if I had understood the Engrish.

Let's give some oldschool love to that Pitfall gator death above... and who can forget Defender, when you utterly fail in your mission to defend the humanoids and they are all turned into mutants, and the planet is destroyed? :)

::Spoilers ahead::

My jaw dropped when Linblum was destroyed in FFIX... same with Alexander later on. I was ready to cry my eyes out.

You might want to check your sexuality there, Ponch.

As for me, the saddest moment in video games was when I first played KoF 2002. I was in complete denial. It was like, Wha!? $325 (or in my case Syougi no Tatsujin) for this shit.

And then came the usual promoting of the game even though I wasn't crazy about it.

I hope I'm not like that for SvC, but who knows. Only new release I can firmly say isn't crap at all is Matrimelee.

The end of ikaruga. The music is wonderful and seeing the space ship sacrifying itself to destroy the boss is just beautiful and sad at the same time.

That was pretty cool. I can't get myself to play the game anymore since I beat it.

I think the saddest part in Final Fantasy 7 was the ending....Aeris dying wasn't as sad as it was angering. However, the end of FF7 when the screen flares up and you catch a glimpse of Aeris----its probly the most epic scene from any video game. Ever. Period.

The game was such a tale in depression. Definitely the best video game I've ever played.

And to top it off, at the VERY end---with Nanaki and his children? The gulls? The children laughing and the ruined world?

I don't care if Charlie thinks I'm gay. He poses for fairy looking montages for all the doughy sausage crusade kids here at Neo-Geo.com. His opinion is NULL.

Hmm:

-The ending of FF8, where Squall is just meandering through the mists, looking for Rinoa, weary and tired and then finally collapsing to the ground.
-Final Fantasy VI, where Celes is standing on the cliff after Cid has died and she attempts to kill herself.
-Super Metroid last battle sequence
-The ending if ICO, where the princess has seemingly sacrificed herself to save you, but at the very very very end you can find her washed up on the beach, alive?

Aeris dying was more shocking, angering, than sad.

I laughed when Aeris died. I mean, come on, the character designs in FF VII were LAUGHABLE. Big breasted woman... check. Stupid blonde bitch... check. Very BAD Mr.T wanna be... check. Main character who is stuck up and annoying... check.

Sorry if I offend anyone, but I have a severe dislike for FF VII. It's the game that made me stop playing FF games (except Tactics). I played that God Damn game for 20+ hours and decided, once Cloud the Douche woke up from his coma, "I HATE these characters. I wish they would ALL die." It's tough to play an RPG, when you spend so much time with the characters, when you hate them all.

They're both dead. It's heaven.
