Would the SNES great FFIII be feasible on GBA?

I was thinkin now with all the excellent ports comin over to the GBA, it's kinda pointless for me to keep my SNES. What's preventing me from doing so however, are two titles that haven't and probably won't be making a transition to the GBA:
Final Fantasy III
Chrono Trigger

I was wondering if it would be technologically possible for Nintendo to port these two epic, fantastic games over to the GBA. Wouldn't that be the shit if that happened!!! Imagine takin Sabin on the go and testin out the ol Bum Rush!! How sweet would that fuckin be??:buttrock:

They wouldn't be able to get the music to sound as good as the SNES. The GBA has some shitty music, and those two games have some of the best music around that contributed to the overall impact the game had.

So true! BTW, your sig rocks!! Come to think of it I forgot about FFIII for a while until I came across that banner of FFIII characters there.

So many awesome characters each with their own unique fighting styles that I can't decide which one's my favorite. I guess it'll have to be either Sabin or Cyan for me.

And how bout them accessories? The best in any RPG. Gengi Glove anyone!! And don't forget the Offering!! Fuckin A man :tickled:

Yeah, that's what rules about this game. You got your Tools, Blitz, Gamble, Throw, Steal, Dance, Runic, Paint, Gau's skills, Swordtech, etc. Much love for Chrono Trigger. I think I may fire up the rom here in a few and run through it.

Shiit, I feel like playin the game right now as well!! Have to sleep though it's like fuckin 4 a.m. I'll fire the SNES up first thing when I wake up hehe. Then I'll partake in some Chrono Trigger goodness next.

Damn, I forgot how awesome the SNES was!!! Yeah I'm a next-gen freak, what can I do  Instances like these help us get back to the gaming roots!! Hallelujah

The SNES does rule, my fav system ever. Way too many awesome games to discount it. It's got your fighters, rpgs, racers, sports, action, adventure.. you name it. What a classy system.

Somebody understands!

I was pumped to finally play Castlevania, Metroid, Lufia, and others on the big screen when I finally got my GBA player... only to cry when I hear the tinny music coming out of my speakers. It's a tough pill to swallow. I'd love to see more quick and dirty 16 bit ports, especially of stuff that hasn't been released domestically, but I'd certainly never give up one of the originals for a "cheaper" GBA version...

FFIV on the wonderswan sounded great.

I think releasing old FF games on the GBA would be a great way to help new school fans understand what shit their series degraded into.

And to those that disagree - you can shampoo my crotch.

I have to agree to that. FF has lost its magic after part VI. Tactics is the only new one I have liked in a long time.

Nintendo should stop being lazy morons and should actually start releasing more new games rather than ports from the SNES. They have a good thing going with the GBA, they shouldn't ruin it with more shitty DK ports.

This thread rocks.

I, for the life of me, cannot understand why Square hasn't ported all of that shit to the GBA already. I know I'd go out and buy all of them. FFIV-VI and Chrono Trigger are absolute masterpieces, and even though I know the music would take somewhat of a hit, they would still be very welcome and warmly received. Some games ported from SNES just take a hit worse than others.

Super Ghouls N Ghosts had a very Squaresoft-kinda sound, but came out reasonably intact on GBA. Super Mario World, with it's very echo-driven tunes, came out pretty garbled. Since the FF games aren't that processor intensive in terms of big phat sprites and whatnot, I can't imagine it would be too taxing for the machine to cough up some reasonable versions of those tunes.

It's really sad for these games not to be available for GBA.
If Capcom thinks the Breath Of Fire games are worth, FFIV-VI and CT are totally worth it.

BTW, I want an original GBA Mario platformer right friggin' now.

Unless you honestly play handhelds all the time when on the road, I don't see why you would want SNES games to be ported. Just buy the originals. The GBA can't do them any better. Is there a single SNES port that came out superior? I mean, maybe it'd be cool if you didn't own the game already, but you care enough to make a thread about it: that I don't understand.

I'd love some Square ports to the GBA, don't get me wrong. In fact, it would be a wise business move, because look how well the psx ports have sold. Would make sense to get more $$ out of us with GBA ports, especially for unreleased imports that never made it our way.

There's something about leaning back on your couch next to the lamp, with the blanket over you and a tall glass of something to drink while rocking out on your GBA.

I own the PS1 re-release of Chrono Trigger and I swear, I'd still rather have the original cartridge version on the SNES.

It would be interesting to see how certain sections would be handled in US FFIII (spoiler free, ie. the large and amazingly detailed final boss/artwork).

GBA games do NOT sound great, so what's your point?

Either way, all of the FF games were already rereleased on the PSX. It's nice to see playing the "classics" didn't sour anybody on the new stuff. Better finish up 10 in time for 10-2, Charlie! Time's running out!

Who wouldn't? The loads on the PS1 Chrono Trigger are awful. FF4 isn't so bad for loads though, and even if it was, it's still miles ahead of the butchered SNES version.

Man, those re-releases were some of the worst porting I have ever played. About as bad as the Sega Smash pack for the DC

I'm suprised that no one is swayed at the idea of having them portable. I figured Square would do a bundle deal of FF1 and FF2 Wonderswan versions for a quick buck, but that turned out to go on the PSX instead, which wihle nice to have all the games on one system (excluding FF3) I would have prefered they just took the GBA route, that way it would be portable as well. I figured after that a bundle of FF3 and FF4, followed by FF5 and FF6 would come to light, after all Square said they wanted to develop for GBA since it would be the ideal platform to port some of their SNES games to. I did hear that they are analyzing where to put FF3 even though it was pretty much finished for Wonderswan. Weither I have the SNES and PSX editions or not, I'd love to have some for my GBA. The PSX has some horrid slowdown (FF4 excluded), and the SNES just doesn't give them all to me. From the FFTA music, I can say it wouldn't be that bad, but it ceratinly wouldn't be as good as the original music sounded. But such is the price for on the go travel.

I think the GBA could handle that! The GBA is a pretty amazing piece of gaming machinery.

As for any ports that came out better in the GBA, all I have to say is Final Fight! It demolished the SNES version. Not only did you have Guy playable, but the graphics were almost the original arcade perfect, AND there were alpha versions of Cody and Guy.
Another GBA game which I find is unbelievable and always has me stupified is Street Fighter Alpha 3. They included ALL the characters plus a few extra ones for good measure. Granted some of the backgrounds and animation couldn't make it but still an extraordinary feat nonetheless.

So now that I think of it, the GBA could and should have FFIII/VI and Chrono Trigger as part of it's library.

ps. Oh and Super Mario Advance 3 is just as good as the original Yoshi's Island!!
