I'm gettig the impression that, well.. SNKP is retiring the Neo.. but with a bang.

It looks like their "aces in the hole" of games are coming out all at once and it makes me believe that they're going to just put out this last batch of titles and move on.

It's sad to see it, but with the Atomiswave move and talks of SNK getting acquired or going 3rd party for Sammy it's growing more and more likely everyday.

If this new game that's getting tested at the end of the year is Garou 2, I think you can finally put the nail in the neo.

I don't want to see it as much as anyone, but if these games have been in development for this long, why not stagger the releases? Probably because they've gotta wrap up the old projects before they start the new ones. SNK has always been a "fan-service" company and on the heels of that, give us the sequels we all wanted.

If this all bears out, though.. I'll be excited too. I'd LOVE to see SNKP in hi-res 2d, and I think with the talent on hand and the properties to draw on.. you're looking at ONE HELL of a party on Atomiswave.

How cool could it be to have Sammy Vs.Capcom Vs. SNK? Not likely, but not entirely impossible, either. With all the collusion of the big 2d houses in Japan, it's not out of the realm of thought.

Then again, I'd like the Neo to last forever.

All good parties have to end sometime, but I never thought I'd see this one.

Anyone have opinions? This isn't an SNK bashing thread or a Atomiswave fanboy thread.. so be serious.

I don't think SNKP going 3rd party is a bad thing by any means. It happened to Sega, and thousands of gamers were crushed. Yet time goes on, and Sega continues to churn out top quality games. Yes its sad i wont ever be able to buy another Sega system, or for that matter another SNK system but as long as the quality games keep coming out i will keep buying them regardless of whose hardware they are on.

And personally i am very interested to see SNKP crank something out on the Atomiswave, i've been interested in this hardware for awhile but as of late only Dolphin Blue has peaked my interest (and only because it looks to be an MS clone).

I agree completely, bringing all these games out so close isn't a good business move. While I'll be glad if Garou 2 is that secret game being tested you're right that nails the coffin. At least they will have wrapped up old projects though no what ifs will be left. I'll be perfectly happy with what's here. Hell many people haven't cared what Playmore has done for the Neo the last 2 years anyway.

I agree. As much as I love my Neo Geo and all Neo products, I ready to accept that one day the production of MVS/AES games will come to a hault.

Personally, I feel the recently announced KOF on Atomiswave hardware is a big step in the right direction for SNK/Playmore. One reason is because it will not be emulated. As well as the fact that the updated look and feel to the game will attract new fans, which the company needs to make money. Its' all about the benjamins. :D

What ever path they choose I'll be along for the ride all the way.

I just hope the Neo's death is not in vain. Playmore better take advantage of the new hardware they wll be making games for, ie: High res graphics, fluid animation. They better not do what Capcom did and with their Naomi games, like recycling old CPS2 sprites and pasting them over 3D backgrounds.
