I've had the Time Warner RoadRunner broadband for about 4 months now. The damn thing worked for the first two months and then outta nowhere, it starts disconnecting from the net. Some days it out completely and other days it cuts in and out every couple of minutes. I've had the cable guys down here twice inside the house. And outside working on the poles about 3 times now. And that's not including 5 calls. My computer and modem were okayed. But they had to replace all the cable lines outside including a silver box on top of a phone pole. And THE BLASTED THING STILL CUTS ME OFF! I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR A FULL MONTH NOW! AND I'M GETTING REALLY FED UP WITH ALL THIS BULLSH*T!

Has anybody else had this problem with RoadRunner?

And are there any good broadband services you guys can recommend?

Thanks.

I use Roadrunner and don't have any problems. The modem has to be cycled every day, sometimes up to 3 times a day though. Would suck if I still played MMORPGs.

That happens alot with cable. It doesnt matter what your ISP is, it all runs on the same lines, and if one little thing goes wrong your screwed for like a month or two until they pinpoint it and fix it.

I don't think cycling is the problem. When it disconnects it's happens at random. Morning, Day, Evening, Late Night. And when it does it can be down anywhere from 1 or 2 days to a couple of minutes at a time. Sometimes that damn thing cuts in and out constantly giving me only a couple of minutes on the net at a time.

Very rarely has it been up at all this month. Not like when I first got it and it was ready and on ALL the time.

Anyways we (the cable guys and I) checked to see if it was any of those new worms or viruses and my computer is clean. I really don't know what else it could be besides my service. Especially when the cable guys can't find a problem inside or outside my house. But they never really give a good reason on what the problem is. I get lame excuses like maybe my signal is too strong. Really how I can have a signal that's too strong? Especially when it was working so well earlier.

If that's the case I wish they would have just told me that. Instead of letting me get pissed off and not giving me any real answers.

Thanks for the info.

When I had cable the stuff started messing up for almost a month and then it started working fine again, they said the line was being fixed somewhere or the thing was being worked on.

DSL is alot more stable for me anyway, thats why i got it instead.

call them up and have them check it out. It doesnt cost anything, just some of your time. it could be a problem on your end. Same thing happened with mine, it turns out the box itself went bad, they replaced it with a new one, as good as new. havent had a problem since then.

That sucks man. My cable internet provider kicks ass, just got a letter in mail today saying they are bumping our 1.5Mbps connection up to 2Mbps for no additional charge until March 2004 and all because we're "valued customers". We've had some problems with our cable connection but it has always turned out to be a problem on our end. Anyway good luck with that, i know not being able to get on the internet sucks, especially when you are addicted...

See that's the problem. I've been calling them and having them check things out repeatedly and they never really give me a clear explanation, nor do they solve the problem. I'm giving them another call later tonight. Here we go again.
