okay, my parents want to make a game room in our house, so we got a pool table and darts, all we need are some arcade machines!!

i was hoping for a mvs cab, but what else would be good??

( nothing too expensive, max we can pay is like $600 per cab)

God that must piss you off though.

$600 could get you two cabs or one beaut.

Get an MVS cab, especially if your parents are gonna pay for it :)

I'd get one dedicated 4 or 6-slot MVS cab... a big red. Then I'd get a candy cab for other jamma games or just more MVS shit. The candy cab has a rotatable monitor, so you could play vert shmups in it which is a plus.

That'd be all I need. But that's just me.

I've seen Final Fights go as low as $125, and 2-slots w/ games I've seen go as low as around $250... but ofcourse, that's from arcade dealers looking to clear out old machines to make room for new ones.

I talked to a member here and he was offered a 2-slot with matrimele and kof 2002 for something around 300. And if I were to get a jamma cab I'm get an old nostalgic gameboard with it, somethign you grew up with. For me that'd be galaga. Because it's the first game I ever remember playing. And even better it's the only game my dad still does play.

Best of all old games such as this can be had for very modest prices

The 2 slot price isnt bad, just make sure you get some more expensive (and good) carts since you do get to pick :) Don't forget to inspect the control panel or see some pics of it, nothing worse then a shitty/retarded button layout.

speaking of shitty button layouts, a local arcade dealer had called me up[yeah i do business with him occasionally] awhile ago asking if i was interested in a neo geo 'puzzle bobble' machine.. he was going to sell it to me for $150, and i thought 'ok that sounds cool' so went over to check it out.

turned out the cab was a convert w/ a 1 joystick setup and had 6 buttons placed in weird places for some reason...

so ofcourse i kindly said no and went on my way. :D

 :spock:

Luckily for me i haven't had the pleasure to see a cabinet with terrible button layouts in person. I think if i saw one in person i might vomit, some of the shitty panel layouts i've seen posted at this site are just terrible.

My best advice to you is go out and look. Not just the phone book to arcade game sellers.

I went to this one flee market that had an arcade. The guy was selling a bunch of old games, he had a Neo converson. And I asked how much he wanted for. He said nobody plays it so he gave it to me for 150.

Turns out it was a doubledragon cab before he converted it.

So go out and look. For 600 bucks you can get alot of good stuff. But I'd get an MVS and a bunch of games.
