hi, I just wanted peoples opinions on which last blade is better? I've played both and I like them equally the same.I just ordered a last blade 1.Should I also get the second one also? I have last blade 2 for the dream cast but I want the real version. Is there a big difference?

I have both Last Blade 1 and 2 on the Neo-Geo. When i first got Last Blade 2, I was a bit disappointed. The backgrounds didn't seem as good, the music didn't seem as good, and I hated the last boss. However, after putting some serious time into Last Blade 2, I came to like it just as much as Last Blade 1. The biggest plus is the new characters, they are simply awesome. Hibiki anyone?

Everyone complains about the backgrounds in Last Blade 2 which I admit are not as good as the backgrounds found in Last Blade 1. Still, the backgrounds in the game are very well done and better then the backgrounds found in most of the other fighting games on the Neo-Geo. Gameplay wise Last Blade 2 is a bit better then in Last Blade 1, it has a lot of technical things added and is a bit less simplistic. Last Blade 2 also got a major overhaul in the difficulty department; it is much harder and requires a lot more skill to excel at. Note that a EX mode is added which combines both Speed and Power mode which is also a nice plus.

If you are a Last Blade fan like me it is worth owning both games. I love both Last Blade 1 and 2 for different reasons and I play them both a lot. Before I had the NGH version of Last Blade 2 I played the American DC version which is terrible. By all means, if you are going to play Last Blade 2, make sure it is on the Neo-Geo.

Calling the DC version terrible is a bit harsh. The game has issues (particularly with slowdown) but if you can't afford the neo versions it does include all the charas from both versions and costs you significantly less.

I also have both games on neo and think that lb1 has better backgrounds, but LB2 has better overall presentation and the new and revamped charas are awesome in 2. LB2 shigen is unbelievably better than his lb1 incarnation. I do prefer the inability to parry during a jump-in in lb1, but like the modes more in lb2. Both games are really great in the music and control categories. Absolute must-have games for any fighter fan.

I absolutely love Last Blade. I have only had a little time with Last Blade 2, so my judgement isn't totally valid, but from what I've played Last Blade is superior to its younger brother. Last Blade 2 isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, it just didn't do much at all to improve upon the solid foundation that is Last Blade.

Get both.

Here are some of the reasons why I like both games equally:

Last Blade - Awesome background,more in-depth story telling,well-drawn sprites.

Last Blade 2 - 2 new intros, improved combo-system,and a more diverse cast of characters.

Although LB 2 might not look or sound as good as the original, the new and improved gameplay more than make up for it.

The original will always be my favorite. It was what got me into SNK again. I hadn't played an SNK game since Fatal Fury Special and Samurai Shodown II (sometimes I'd play MS in the arcades). The second I played it at my friend's house (in a cab no less) I was instantly hooked.

The original is my favorite due to the better backgrounds and old school type gameplay. LB2 seems more combo reliant, teetering on the edge of dial-a-combo strategy. I'm just an old schooler.

Besides the awesome stages and the bad ass story, I also like Kaede's transformation in LB1. Another reason LB1 is better is due to the fact each character has their own stage, which adds more to the atmosphere than the spread out stages in LB2.

But like someone already said, get both if you can!
