Listening to it now. Not the biggest fan of techstep/darkstep. I own a few Dieselboy albums, but I'm more into the jazzy/atmosphere dn'b like LTJ Bukem and the goodlookingorganisation label.

Good for what it is though.. Thats pretty slick, opening for Dieselboy and Stakka and Skynet.

thanks man :)

yea there are so many genres in the dnb scene its retarded now. But its good, I actually listen to some Fabio liquid stuff to chill out as well as some Goodlookin'. We have had a huge scene in Chicago the past few years, probably have seen every UK big timer. Dieselboy is definitely goin in the right direction, has his own label now etc.. and experimenting with new things, really putting US dnb on the UK map. If you want check out Dieselboy's new site if you havent djdieselboy.com some nice flash work as well. BUt go to audio or archives or some shit adn download the djmag uk mix i think youll like it, it also happens to be all us tunes.

and cough cough everyone can check me out @ bassdrive.com live every thursday at 1pm cst for my Jungle Tactics show.

sean beat me.
there's no dnb better than ltj and crew.
the rest is boring nonsense.
literally, stay the fuck away.
the entire dnb concept is diseased and absent of talent in the first place....it's just lucky some genius black men decided to give it a go and make something of it.

heh. there are so many subgenres within every genre of 'electronica'. people are just loco.
anyway, pretty cool mix... as far as d'n'b goes though i preffer stuff with much more heavy & distorted bass[yep i can be a pretty big bass whore. speed garage was one of my fav styles].

i used to spin myself. actually. had a friend with the equipment and taught me how to do everything. got me to do parties with him. although we mainly played booty house[all his stuff]. the bastard got married and moved away[took everything with him] and i haven't dj'ed since.
i'm currently wanting to get back into it. just need to save up money for the equipment.. however i have been buying vinyl whenever i get the chance.

i decided i'm not going to spin any d'n'b or house or anything.. since there's already many DJ's here in the US that cover all that stuff. i want to bring more variety here and i find that i really like electro & nu-electro[mainly german & japanese artists]. i never hear any of that stuff around these parts[San Diego county] so i'm planning to make it big here.

oh and, as far as that whole US/UK scene goes.. yeah we need to show them europeans that the US means business.
i won't be happy until the US has it's own Love Parade or Street Parade. :buttrock:

pinnacle year for me was 2000, things were insane that year, also the year i turned 21 and got to finally go to the Seminar in Chicago for UK talent every wed. But these days things are quite different, there is so much garbage I finally ordered some more records for the first time in like 2 months the other day. I used to place an order weekly to bi-weekly. I pretty much stick to my own show etc... there are also so many noob pricks, everyone is a fucking dj with their stolen mp3s and CDJs. What can you do, enjoy what you like. My friend runs a site mainly dealign with dnb and we may be getting a bi monthly show witht he G.L.O crew hosted by LTJ, some syndication action, ill keep you two posted on that.

I'm a big fan of the cheeseball 'handbag' garage style myself. Classic early-mid 90s stuff.

I thought DnB wasa lost on Americans, good to see it ist.

Honestly ive always thought that the USA dance scene was years behind the uk, apart from the stuff that originated out there of course........

I guess my thinking comes from the usa being represented abroad by idiots like Armand van Helden etc.....

well as far as America goes.. it's electronica scene is just as big as anywhere else.. the problem(if you see it as a problem) is that it's mostly underground. it's once you lurk into the evils known as 'mainstream' you'll find all the crap pop/rock/rap b.s. that the big record labels & MTV are trying to push onto you.
so as long as you avoid the mainstream garbage you're fine.

Well, at least we're not responsible for Paul Oakenfold.

Touche, im sure the uk is represtented elsewhere just as badly.

Where dance music has a very high profile here, the margin between underground and mainstream is negligable, it is just a matter of time before the "underground" popular dance genre of the time , and the records included, find their way to the suface.

I hate steaming Oakenpoo...that comment made me laugh:lol: .

anyways it's good to see more D&B heads here...I'm big into Jungle and Hardocre music right now (that's what I'm spinning at the moment).

Well, I'd say most of the stuff I own (90% +) is UK origin. Early Jungle/hardcore/old skool/whatever you call it, til real jungle (93-95). And some other stuff in between, early house, breaks, etc.

US scene isn't really behind the UK: the music still isn't that good on both sides, for a long while; even though the UK started it, they have kinda slumped a bit (where are the classics? I forget the track after I heard it). Not to dis, though, we're no better here :)

I suppose I should chime in on this topic since I enjoy pretending I know something about electronic music and the like...

It would be disingenuous to claim I have anything above and beyond the most tenuous understanding of drum and base music outside a fringe curiosity. It’s a bit [how to say this...] impersonal for my taste. That’s not to say that some sappy, dancy trancy garbage is qualitatively better, I’ve just found very little DNB with personality. Perhaps I just need to dig a little deeper...

The one exception is a group out of New Zealand called Concord Dawn. Their music is simply genius. Very distinct, dark, almost menacing, but occasionally speckled with brief glimmers of hope. Like standing on the rubble of a nuclear holocaust, or something... Anyway, if you haven’t checked them out you owe it to yourself to give them a listen. That goes to everyone by the way...

<points to everyone present>
