An Arabic thread in the international forums... is it possible/plausable?

As one of the mods has already seen, my attempt at posting something in Arabic was probably thwarted by something in the code, alongside it's response to the fontboard.

Now, I'm not too sure if anybody outside of myself and maybe two others here would use it, but I'm damned curious if there's anybody out there who would put something like it to use. Hell- I'd at least try to keep it up. With all the other International threads there, one semetic language on top of some Eastern and Western ones couldn't hurt.

You know unless we see more arab people wanting it, it will probably not happen. I mean whats the point if only like you and one other person is gonna used it. I suggest you gather more people here to petition for this. And if you really want to speak to someone like there must be a lot of other sites where you can do that. well best of luck on getting this implemented here.

Dude before you go getting all hurt consider that there may not be enough users to warrant the expense. Though the forums are free for us, they cost Shawn money and he pays or otherwise compensates someone to do a lot of the Web work.

If 10 people want a special language t's not going to be worth the expense to do it. Now it 100 want it, then it will happen.

So the trickwould be to get as many people as you know whom are regular users to state they they would like a forum in Arabic in a single thread. Again if it's not enough people to convince Shawn to output the cash for the additiona set up, don't let it bug you if it does not happen. If there are neough people then you can expect it to happen.

Good rimm, I'm not 'hurt' at all. Rather, I was just somewhat puzzled.

Out of 6000+ members, and of a solid majority that frequent the boards, I just found it somewhat odd that perhaps there wern't more Arabic speakers on the board. When all is said and done, I guess the number of people that enjoy the Neo and speak Arabic is closer to nill than I previously thought.

This isn't something that I'm going to drudge upon till the second coming, but I thought that perhaps if an Arabic thread in the International Forum existed, people who knew the language (or are learning it, like myself) may take to it. So, with that thought in mind, I tried starting a thread with the Arabic script.

Alas, the code for Arabic script isn't recognized. And if I'm one of only 10 who would use it, then there probably is no use for one- a valid point that Violent Ken has made. And if costs are too high in implementing script recognition for it, then it probably is indeed just a luxury.

No problem man, the Neo reaches to all parts of the world. Therefore it should be represented as so.

I'm all for it, unfortunately I only know minmal arabic, and I can't read or write it worth a shit.

But I'd like to see it.
