I just ran across a new handheld game system/Palm OS PDA called Zodiac. www.tapwave.com . I think it looks pretty slick, anyone ever hear of this? It sure beats the shit out of the friggin N-Gage. From other sites I've seen covering this thing it looks like it has a shitload of support gamewise for the future. I think I'm gonna drop a pre-order on one of these puppies. Only thing I need to decide is if I want the 32 mb version for $299 or the 128 mb version for $399. Yeah it's only a $100 more for 98 megs more memory, but these thing are expandable via SD memory up to 1 gig, so I don't really see the necessity of buying the 128 mb version when the memory can be expanded almost infinitely. What do you guys think?

You're kidding, right? :)

Wait a few weeks and you'll be able to buy both of them when they're in the bargain bin. The vultures are already circling this one...

That aside, it had a two-page spread in wired this month.

Rather than spend $399 on a machine that may soon become defunct and obsolete, why not buy a GBA SP and a regular mobile phone, then superglue them togeather - back to back? Voila! one mobile phone and quality gaming device all in one, You'll be the envy of all your friends.

Yes its a stupid idea, but at least you know that the GBA SP will still have new games being made for it 6 months down the line.

Better still, keep that money and wait for the Sony PSP. Yea I know some people seem to have a wierd aversion to anything with 'playstation' written on it - I dunno if yer one of them - but its a much safer bet than that macine.

Yeah that was me that brought that up. I love my GP32 but I think this thing is way better. It was in the latest game informer. Thank you so much for posting this I was trying to remember the name of it yesterday so I could look up information about it.

BTW ... this is not a cell phone like that crapy N-Gage. This is a palm pilot. Allows you to watch movies, play MP3 and do anything that a palm pilot can do. Only this will also play kick ass games that could never be done on any palm pilot before.

I have never liked this kind of multimedia platform with cell phone, games and a lot of other things. Nothing can ba a real handheld console.

I did some reserch on this system and it does have 3rd party suport. They have games like Tony Hawk and Spy Hunter so I'm guessing Activision is one of the licensees. I read somthing about like 400 licenes that are in the works but for some reason that dosent sound right. I guess they may be factoring in all of the other people who have done any PDA programs. But there are games that are utilzing all of Zodiacs capablities besides some older crappy PDA games.

I love new systems but I hate this new aproach. Yes having all those options in one is practical but it takes away from the system. That's why though it is out dated and could be better I love the GBA. It's all about the games and not what features we can cram onto it. I understand the DVD and CD playing features on next gen consoles since it is very easy to add but all these new things on handhelds are dumb. If you want games and something else buy a TI83 and download Snake.
