REZ

REZ is one of my favourite Dreamcast Games.
Its the perfect graphic/sound combination.
REZ isn’t a game, REZ is an experience!!

What do you think??

Is REZ art?

Unrelated maybe? Anyway, yeah that's one of Sega's better games. It was really hard to find there for a while after it came out.

We'llet it go through-this time.;)

Especially for THIS game.:drool_2:

Too much fun for being art!
Art is old, dusty, useless and usually hangs around in museums...
Its rather a damm good, highly original game.
Just that.

Yep, this game on DC is damn great! Special but great!

Yep, should be in "unrelated" but since Dreamcast is the next SNK home console... (Atomiswave replacing MVS, there won't be another way to get a perfect arcade conversion!)

Yes, I think Rez is art (Herzog Drei prolly needs to redefine "art"). Too bad the music is a bit monotone. I hope that u-ga uses some really great artists for the rumored sequel. Daft Punk springs to mind.

And you will never beat my score attack results... I'm putting them in my sig later on (whenever I can get the game running that is, fucking 2nd print PAL edition *#%$&!!!)

The art in the game is based of the work of Kandinsky, who dealt a great deal the concept of "seeing" music. Synathesia, as it is sometimes called, is a religious experience when a person is able to "visually grasp" sound and music, and this word is brought into the game as well. Definatly an interesting subject to study during my early years of Ethnomusicology schooling.

Is the game art? Absolutly! Is it an experience? Absolutly, especialy with the Trance Vibrator!!!!:tickled:

Synaesthesia is also a mental condition that people "suffer" from. I use the term suffer loosely, as it has little to no effect on their lives. These people often describe sounds as "watery" or "red" and in fact is not limiited to the confusion of sound over sight. They can also describe colors as being "rough" and textures as being "quiet". Its not something they can't help, its just their senses make connections our brains normally do not.

rez is a fun game.
lots of people dont care for it though.
generally speaking, those people are just stupider.
they're got less taste, and are altogether less intelligent.
it's the truth.

no big deal, the world needs the idiots.
we're all working together to shape humanity.

I caught the Rez bug from Jigen.

Right before he died, we talked about it for about a half an hour and he just convinced me to get it.

I got it and I'll say, it took a very strange experience to get me hooked.

I played it for a little bit and said.. it's ok. Nothing spectacular, but fun. I did what everyone says, which is blast the stereo, turn the lights out and shoot to the beat.

I went upstairs right afterwards and realized I played it for about 8 hours and I was kind of in a "trance" if you will. Self-Hypnosis? Maybe.

That's what did it. I was blown away. Never had a game do that to me. It really only felt like it was maybe 20 minutes of play to me.

I've been hooked since.

Rez is a great game.

Completly different.

This would be like compairing Metal Slug to Wolfenstein, you really cant.

I still have yet to buy this game... I only have about an hour of it under my belt at a friends house... but it was a BURNZ :shame:

He's angry because his opinion is right, and others are wrong. Nice to see he's coming full-circle. Pay no attention, kids. ;)

It's art. There's just better rail-shooters to be played... though I never did try it with a vibrator. Am I wrong in saying that asking to borrow yours, Verbatum, would be a VERY indecent proposal? :tickled:
