I've only seen the Funimation DVD's that were released over here in the UK, but I'd hazard a guess that adult swim may have cut a few scenes from a mid-way episode that had (brief) scenes of masturbation, toplesness and general shagging.

Or did they make it into the TV broadcast version as well?

I've never actually seen the Adult Swim versions, but owning the entire series on DVD, I can say that I find it to be a very good series, probably one of my favorites. Unfortunately, judging from the lack of web content ont eh series, I'm probably in the minority :oh_no:

Cartoon Network will slowly remove the stick from late night America's ass. Following that, day time television.

The last episode aired tonight? well, if so, then it was a matter of all the citizens of second earth losing a sense of purpose in their lives and going crazy. The artificial way of life propogated by Second Earth was soley focused on fighting the Blue and eventually returning to Earth. With Seno Miyagi's decision to make the future of humanity on Second Earth, this purpose ceased to be. In addition, as we can tell from comments made by personnel about not knowing what to do now that they aren't training to fight the blue, life has become completely devoid of meaning. After a while, this led to a phenomenon not unlike the suicide command carried out by the Blue after their purpose was over (to reduce humanity to a miniscule population, if not completely wipe it out). that's my theory at least. as i mentioned earlier, there are virtually no online sources in english on this series to study. It was quite a strange way to end the series, I certainly wasn't expecting it, but it certainly fit with the whole idea of earth's grand plan they were talking about.

I figured it was just because everyone on the station saw that earth was OK now and decided to sod off back to the planet (you dont see any escape pods launching but you do see some people fighting to get to them).
And they blew up the space station for shits and giggles, or because they had come to loathe it...... well actually by the time I'd sat through 26 episodes of BG my attention was starting to wayne. Thats not to say its bad, but the last few episodes were a bit of a drag.
