Ok, with all the posts about how great the Saturn and DC was I noticed that nobody ever talks about the SegaCD. Was this the system that sega fans forgot? Were there no decent games for this system besides Sonic CD?

I believe Fatal Fury Special and Samurai Shodown did make their way over to the Sega CD.

Over in Japan, the lucky Japanese got a version of the almighty Neo Geo classic, SENGOKU 1!!!

Final Fight CD is late '80 - early '90s acrade goodness to the max.
Also, Robo Aleste, Eternal Chapions CFTDS and Fatal Fury Special rock the house.

Snatcher was also released for the Saturn in Japan. You can usually find a copy on ebay.

Another vote for Eternal Champions CD, far, far better than the shitty Megadrive version. Also Earthworm Jim Special edition is outstanding fun, while Sonic CD is one of the best games of all time :buttrock: :buttrock: :buttrock:

i have fond memories of the Sega CD. it was released during the golden age of gaming and Ill be damned if it wasnt the coolest, most exciting thing in the world. drooling over that damn blue box on display and crying over the $249.99 pricetag. staring in amazement at the night trap testing rigs they had set up EVERYWHERE. holy shit.

then again i love cheesy fmv games like night trap, sewer shark, etc. not to mention all the kickass ports with awesome sound to hit it up. it's like the 3rd coolest system ever.

Its ALL about the Star Wars Chess. I was playing it a few minutes ago getting my ass kicked by the dark side. The animations are awesome.

Samurai Shodown is pretty good, but I like Fatal Fury Special alot better.

I appreciated the Sega CD for its shooters, Snatcher, and Lunar games (although Lunar 2 Eternal Blue had deplorable loading time between fights, I played about maybe 2 hours of it before I quit).

Here's my game list:

Android Assault: Halfway decent shooter, great early 90's rock

Batman Returns: Game blows, I own it only for the music.

Battlecorps: It was cool for a while but it is very hard, and the graphics just really sucked.

Bram Stoker's Dracula: The only FMV game besides Silpheed I liked, and that's only for its music. Gotta love that 2nd level gothic tunes!

Final Fight CD: The best port of FF i've ever played. I'll have to say, Sega made the best ports of capcom games from Forgotten worlds, to Mercs, to this game.

4-in-1 CD Packin: I played the 'voice-enhanced' versions of SOR, Golden Axe, and Shinobi tons of times. Too bad Sega regularly knows how to fuck up, and only give us 1 player on Golden Axe.

Lords of Thunder: Rocks the fucking house. One of the best shooters on Sega's 16bit platform.

Robo Aleste: Great shooter engine, all you expect from the OLD Compile ltd. Too bad the techno/disco while being technically good music, really blows compared to the speedmetal present in its prequel, MUSHA. Shooters + Speed Metal = Shoot your load goodness!

Sherlock Holmes: ... zzz oh wait, is it my turn?

Silpheed: Yea yea, Sega fuckin lied that this was all polygon goodness compared to starfox... its still not bad for a FMV shooter.

Snatcher: Arguably the best game on Sega CD ever. The story, drama, and creativity set this game apart. I will NEVER sell my copy, heh heh heh...

Soulstar: I'm proud to say I finished this game once. Fuckin hard ass game too, and way too long not to have a save feature. But i was such an astronomy buff back in the day, and this game and its soundtrack fit the bill.

Stellar Fire: I own this game only because the 80's music is still catchy.

Time Gal: FMV cartoon game... but its cute.

The Terminator: More great music, and kinda fun to play on a lonely dark night.

Thunderstrike: More 2.9999 D goodness. Great fun at the time.

So I guess you guys haven't forgotten about this great system. I just scored a deal to get a Sega Genesis/Sega CD combo in mint shape with original boxes for 60! So far this will be my fourth sega cd unit (the first my brother destroyed, the second, a cdx, I sold, and the third well, I posted that disaster here.) Can't wait to get this thing hooked up... great times...

Kind of odd, when I was a kid it was all about nintendo, but now i've almost got every system Sega made while I have only the GCN...

I noticed nobody mentioned third world war... For some reason I knew this game had potential but since I never could get a manual with it I never understood how to play it. I'd kill for a Faq...

This was awesome for it's time. Almost as good as arcade Turbo Outrun. And it had a track editor.

WonderDog was cool too.

Snatcher, reason alone to buy the system. But even after you buy it, there is plenty more love to go around:

Final Fight
Lunar: Silver Star Story
Lunar: Eternal Blue
Sonic CD

Just to name a few

which system combo do you guys prefer? obviously if given the chance most would opt for the Sega CDX (Genesis + CD in one portable walkman-sized system = best ever) but really:

Original stacked combo with the tray CD holder.

or

The adjacent model 2 combo with the open lid CD holder.

I had the adjacent model 2 combo before I sold my sega bundle (with a fucking awesome condition SNATCHER) but I always liked the original stacked combo. maybe I'll start up another Sega CD collection in the future with the CDX system. But it's ard to decide, the original stacked is so damn old school and nostoligic or whatever the fuck its called. :emb:

I just picked up a Genesis Model 2 and Mega CD 2 with region mods and S-video/stereo RCA mods performed by arcade. Can't wait to get it hooked up. My copies of Snatcher, Final Fight, and Lunar have been sitting around for far too long.

Gotta get a copy of Third World War. I was addicted to this game back in the day.

My original Sega CD gave up the ghost a while ago. I wanted another original unit, but arcade gave me a deal on both that I couldn't pass up. And with S-video output? Who could say no to that?
