Good day all! My AES system has an "X" knife cut on the bottom serial number sticker. This was the result of a botched repair job. It does not sever the serial number portion of the sticker, and has been glued up as best possible.
Will this depreciate the value of the system? If so, how much? I paid $375 for it, as it's a Japanese cart system modded with A/V inputs (It also came with AOF 1 and 2, an old style joystick, wires and power supply). And I HATE to admit this, but I authorized the cutting; my A/V jacks had come loose, and I was told that the final screw to open the bottom was located under the sticker. If I had thought twice, I would have realized that the mod had required an opening of the console, and that it had SOMEHOW been opened before without messing with the sticker! But I digress.
How bad should I feel about this blemish? I'm really beating myself up over the whole incident, mainly over the fact that I didn't realize the obvious fact stated above. I can't really blame the guy for giving me bad advice, as
1) He once fixed my Genesis for free.
2) He provided me with a free car!
and lastly,
3) He's my grandfather!
My primary concern is that this will substancially depreciate the value of the system. Should I be concerned? Thanks for tramping through my issues!
