The Samurai Spirits series is without a doubt, may favorite on the Neo. But, there are a couple related games that, well, are worth smoking dog poo!.

Again, from any of the realted games:

1. Samurai Spirits, Warriors revenge 2 (PS)

Here are the options:

MVS/homecart: SS1~4 (forget ports, only taking the best here)
NGP(C) : SS!, SS!2
HNG : ss64, ss64 2
PSX : SSWR2

The only bad one is SSWR 2, but it's for hte PSX, so you can't expect anything good, eh. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Haven't played H64 SSs'
Haven't played NGP SS1!

So I would say:
Warrior's Rage PSX
NGPC SS2!

Honorable mention:

SS RPG
1.) It's in JP, so I can't read it.
2.) And from what I hear the loading times SUCK

Funny you mention that, 300 Meg. I recall seeing the cover for a game mag (gamepro?) from around that time; the cover was devoted to the port with the caption, "Samurai Shodown! The best Genesis game ever?" I have the cart and I don't think it's THAT bad. Just look at it on the SNES, and it'll seem great by comparison! ^_^

Yeah, I mean, if you want absolute worse SS games, on any format, I'd say 3 and 4 on the PSX. Just bad ports really.

But if you look at just the best possible versions for each unique game, it comes to Warriors Rage 2 and SS RPG.
