Hi all! I am what you could call a born-again neo gamer. I originally got my system as a gift at the tender age of 14(1994) and had FF2. I then got SS and World Heroes 2. I traded some and ended up with Top Hunter, Art of Fighting 1 and 2, Super Sidekicks 2 and Samurai Showdown 2. Alas, I was in my teen years and that led to experimentation(not just in console games, but MANY other wonderful, and not so wonderful things ) To make a long story short my poor beat up Neo got locked away for a while, and some of my games got traded away . But, in recent months my FAVORITE machine that brought years of joy was dug out, and she works so good! The games I have now are SS2, SS3, Super Sidekicks2, and Top Hunter. I have Metal Slug X on the playstation and my wife and I LOVE it! I also have Last Blade 2 on DC and used to have KOF 99(which both felt watered-down). Anyway, here is where you all come in. I am trying to build my collection now. I am planning to get MS3, the Art of Fighting series, SS 1 and 4, Real Bout 2, and Sengoku 3 as I can afford them. I was planning on getting a phantom 1 but from what I've heard that wouldn't be the best route to go. I want a lot of games but, I'm married and have to work for a living. Would a CDZ be a good route to go(I prefer carts and the a fore mentioned games I plan to get on the AES)? I heard it has atrocious load times, so I was wondering how good the games were on it(i.e. do they feel watered-down). Also my wife and I like games like Top Hunter and Metal Slug X, we both love SS2 and 3. So what would be some good games for us to get? I consider myself a collector(I own almost every system and several import games) but don't buy games for collector's value so much as entertainment value, I guess I could be called hardcore. My wife like the neo because of cool 2 player games. Any help would be appreciated! Also, is there a way to make the blood on a Japanese SS3 red on an American system? Thanks you guys! And thank you so much for the warm reception!

to make SS3 play with red blood, I added a debug chip to my machine. You can buy a debug chip for $20 some dollars at the "neostore" or !arcade! or forum member JMKurtz.

All I can say is do not get the Neo Geo CD system unless your a Hardcore collector .The load times are not fun , It takes me sooo long to beat a KOF game on CD , probably like 45 mins without loseing on Team mode .

45 MINUTES!? The load time is THAT bad? DAMM! I wanted one so I could play games like Metal Slug 2 and other rare one's without having to give and arm and or a leg.

I thought about getting a CD system when I first got into the Neo, but in the end I decided the performance and coolness of those giant home carts was worth the extra cash. I still piss and moan about the more outrageously priced games like Slug 1, but for the most part I don't have a problem with the cart prices.
