Homebrewed Gouken vs Gouki sprite animation (not posted before, was it?)

Didn't think I'd seen this mentioned here (what with the <a href="http://www.ba.wakwak.com/~d_evil/cgi-bin/joyful/joyful.cgi" target="_blank">SVC Uploader site</a> getting less attention with its lack of control over posted content). Among all the homebrew sprites (alot of nice NGPC KOF R-2 / SVC MOTM style stuff) on the (current) first page were these two:
<img src="http://www.ba.wakwak.com/~d_evil/upload/931.jpg" alt=" - " />
<img src="http://www.ba.wakwak.com/~d_evil/upload/929.gif" alt=" - " />

The first is Gouken (master of Ryu and Ken, and brother of Gouki). The kanji on his back (and his beard-stroking pose on the left) come from Kanzaki Masaomi's Gouken design (and one particular Gouken pose, just prior to his fight with Vega [Shadoloo leader]) in the Tokuma Shoten manga, "Street Fighter II RYU" (released in English, in colorized form as "Street Fighter II").

The second is an homage to Nakahira Masahiko's manga, Street Fighter III RYU FINAL (published by Shinseisha). In that manga's flashback depicting the final battle between Gouki and Gouken, Gouki has long, dishevelled hair hanging in his face (which is why this sprite looks so different from the usual Gouki design).

Anyway, just thought these were pretty cool, since they're based directly on manga interpretations of the characters.

It would be cool if they did a retro SF set in the past. Telling the story or Gotetsu,Gouki and Gouken. Maybe even a very young Vega/M.Bison. That would rock.

The retro SF is a great idea. Stick in people like Chun Li's Dad, Geki, Lee, among others and it would be a very interesting game.

yeah, you could even play Ken and Ryu, only make them more like Sakura, with combos instead of strong single attackes.

It's too bad the industry doesn't do more really great things with the storylines to games. It always seems like they just add them on as an afterthought.
