I'm finally getting around to either buying an MVS cab or making my own MAME cab and now that I'm ready to do it I can't find any info on auctions and what not for my area. I tried buying a 4 slot Neo cab from the only arcade in my area that had one and they wanted $1000 for it. I think I could find it cheaper at an auction.

Can you guys recommend any sites with news on upcoming auctions or can anyone in the area recommend a vendor?

Give Ajax Amusements a call. They are located in Northern VA in Herndon. I called a few weeks ago, because I was curious if they had any MVS cabs. They said they had one for 500. Don't know how many slots, or if they still have it. But give em a call anyway. 703 435-0030

Good God, you have no idea how long I've been looking for an arcade/pinball dealer in my area. I just checked out their web site and their only about an hour+ from my home. Thanks for the heads up Sensei! By the way, have you actually gone there before? Their site doesn't really give a good feel for what they have in stock so that's why I'm asking. Thanks again man!

I have not stopped by the store. There is another Arcade "dealer" off Route 28 called Amusement Depot. Very small selection of pinball tables, and some arcade machines. Was there a few months ago, before I went to the auction in Maryland.

I just got an email back from the owner of Ajax Amusements. He said he has a Neo Geo in stock, but he's not sure what an MVS is eek_2 . I'm gonna stop by there later this week to see what he's all about since I'll be in Reston.

That doesn't surprise me. When I called, they had to hand the phone to an employee who actually knew what I was talking about.

Have you guys ever checked out <a href="http://www.mutoscope.com/" target="_blank">The Electronic Mutoscope?</a> Yeah, strange name, but they have a <a href="http://www.mutoscope.com/emdirect.asp" target="_blank">pretty extensive arcade vendor directory.</a> I started calling around to different listed vendors in my area in hopes of tracking down an MVS in decent shape. (No luck yet.)

My God, there are TONS of arcade vendors! Unfortunately, most seem to be into crane machines and poker machines. :(

There are two big auction companies that run auctions across the U.S. (nearest for us is usually NJ), and one just had one last month in York PA. They are:

<a href="http://www.usamusement.com/" target="_blank">http://www.usamusement.com/</a>

<a href="http://www.superauctions.com/" target="_blank">http://www.superauctions.com/</a>

Unfortunately there are no auctions in the near future in NJ, those generally take place in the Fall/Winter. There is a site that keeps track of the results of all the auctions in NJ by these companies, but I can't find the link right now. annoyed Mouse Master has the link, maybe he can post it here if he sees the thread.
