Do you save up for that big purchase or go for a multi-purchase. I'm looking to get NGPC and a good set of games, but I'm debating if I should just save and get either Blazing Star or Neo Turfmasters for home cart when I get the chance. I really love NTM and Blazing Star is a close second.

Oh and I get the cash set aside for SvC when ever that comes out for home cart wink

Neo Turf Masters? spock on home cart? I think thats a little more than a big purchase like oh..800, 900 more and thats if you can find it loco .

Then to answer your question. I usually by a big purchase (200-300) then by little things (20-70) for a while.

Like:
I bought Kof 2000
then for a month or so just little posters and cards
and now i just bought last blade and kof 97 :D

PLUS
you are really going play a 800-900 dollar extremely rare game? What if you scuff it? oops there goes 50 off the price. What if you break th snap lock? Oops there goes a couple hundred!!

Just my humble opinion :D

Get a Phantom, or a supergun or cab with a MVS board, if you want to play any of those insanely expensive AES games. MVS is the way to go. It sucks having to save money for a year just to buy ONE game.

Another possibility would be getting a conversion...

Eh maybe your right, but I don't know. I see dropping the big bones on NTM. I could get a Phantom-1, NTM, AND Blazing Star! I should do that, but I'm keeping the NTM home cart in the back of my mind mr_t

Or, if you have alot of money, get the AES for collection and the MVS for playing purposes. It all really depends on your wants and financial situation.

Unless you are a collector with more money than brains, it doesn't make any sense to buy that much expensive carts. If you are a gamer that only wants to play the games go for MVS for God's sake. From your post it really looks like all you want to do is playing the damn game, so...

That's exactly why I sold my authentic Pulstar. I know I'd play the game to deth but was so afraid of hurting it.

get turf masters for ngpc
I think this what I am going to do. I'll keep saving the cash, plus I never know when a rainy day is gonna hit. If I be NTM home cart it would be a HUGE hit to my funds. One of these days, one of these days I tell ya :)

Edit:
Oh, also does anyone know of a solid but inexpensive puzzler for home cart?

I agree with that. When I play my games I play them. flip through manuals, swap them out. So over time the do wear. Then there are collectors that put them in zip lock bags and store them off site :) so if you really like the game get a verison you can play without worrying about what you do effecting the value. My rule is I never pay over $500 for a game becuase I know I will play it. or just buy a Gamer version of the game, a used one then you do not have to worry about it and it is cheaper. I have the NGCD of NTM, used to have the NGM version but it was a bad bootleg and the sound did not work.

Right now, I'm focusing on buying up all the early MVS Neo classics...from 1990-1993. That was the most special era of the Neo Geo, IMO.

Well I am about to buy a Twinkle Star Sprites homecart and I am sure as hell gonna play it. Just like I play games like Pulstar, WW7 and MSX. I treat them just like any other game I have. With great care. They stand in the shelf like any other game. Doesn't matter if I paid $10 or $500 I am always careful with my games and I always play them as well.

Thats just my opinion. Oh, and also, if you ever decide to sell some of your more expensive carts you can often get most of your money back, so it's not really a matter of how much money you can spend, its more about how much money you can set aside for the moment. Peace :D

Yup, so then you should just forget about ever owning one of these:

I agree with you, leave these games for the collectors who can enjoy them.

Really, all that counts is that you have fun with the games, no matter what you decide to get. :)

Lately my Neo spending cash has been getting spent on other stuff, live anime DVD's and 'mainstream' console games.

But I usually try to buy the latest release, and I'm also trying to pick up some of my old favorates that I used to play on Emulators several years ago (as long as they are not stupidly expensive (anything over £300)
Right now I have one eye on a Real Bout Special AES cart, and one eye on a Matrimelee AES cart.

But seeings as I'm pretty skint now I'll probably go for neither.

Well I can see this point somewhat. but regardless of how carefull anyone is something can always happen to damage the game to effect it value. Why even worry about it just buy a game to play on the convertor or cd system.

But cost is all realitive in the long run I guess. 5 years ago I would not spend over $300 for a game, but as I made more money my level went up somewhat.

But I go crazy on collecable things, comics, Resins, Neo Geo Lights... and spent enought money on that kinda of stuff to buy at least 1 complete NGH collection including a Kizuna.

so to answer the big question as far as I am concenered i never really save up to make a big purchase but come Bonus time I buy a bunch of expensive things wink

Cnidarian,
eek! drool_2 smirk

NASTY COLLECTION BRO!

Man, 3 Blazing Stars, can I have one (j/k)

If I spend money on game I will play at least once. I am really anal about my games, even my "gamer condition" games. I just want to enjoy the Neo mostly and I'm game collector on top of that.

Hey if you enjoy them go nuts!
Just personally, Im already terrified of scuffing my 235 ms3 I cant even imagine what id do if I had a 500+ game. loco

I have to disagree with some of the pics you have though.
Slug 2-4? Mark of the wolves?! Rage of the Dragons!?! Matrimelee?!?!?

None of those are that rare and all of them im looking to pick up on home cart (if i dont already have them yet). Id play them all.

To me the big number is 500. Once it hits half a grand im out. mr_t
