Ok

I want to buy an MVS Neo cabinet and I need some help. First of all what's the difference between:
<a href="http://www.arcade-infinity.com/gallerycab.htm" target="_blank">http://www.arcade-infinity.com/gallerycab.htm</a>

Why are some higher priced and others are lower? Are there features that some dont have that others do?

What's with the motherboard? Cabinets dont come with them? Is it hard to install a mobo? Do cartridges just plug into the mobo?

Do MVS units require lots of maintanence? Do they have good track records or is it easy for them to crap out? Is there a "memory unit" that goes there to save games? Or can you not save games?

I'm seriously brand new to everything SNK and I think it would be really cool to have a machine in my apartment to play some games on. This would all be big help guys. Please help because I literally have NO clue as to how any of this works!

Older cabs are cheaper, newer are more expensive.

There essentially all the same (cept for a few like the one that comes with a small LCD screen and camera) The newer ones are more standard though, so things like control panels can be swapped easily with others. The "MVS" cabs are the weird old ones. The Neo & Super Neo are the newer ones.

Those cabs at arcade-infinity don't come with any motherboards.

Hooking up a motherboard is just plug n play. Carts are plugged in just like any other top loading cart console

Only certain motherboards have a memory board/card support, and only certain cabs have a space to put them in allready.

There really isn't any maintenance, except for the monitor maybe (as with all monitors/tv's) and the buttons/joysticks, and maybe replacing the battery on the board.

I had a similar inquery, whats so weird about the old MVS cabs? Aesthetically speaking, I like the old MVSs better, they're purty! I was gonna buy up one of them but if they are know for being flawed I may settle for a Neo 29

I've had my MVS cab in the pic below for over a year...and I haven't had the slightest bit of problems with it..

I take good care of it though..
I put a big fan in it to keep it cooled down..

That cab is my baby..the best thing I ever bought..
I'm looking into getting a second Red Dedicated cab..I'm waiting on the seller to give me a price.

Is it worth paying the extra 200 or so bucks for a newer Neo Cabinet instead of the MVS one?

Nothing wrong with the older style cabs.
Im sticking with the twins.
The only real difference apart from cab asthetics is the crt. Candies have FSTs, earlier red (or any other colour for that matter) cabs do not.
Otherwise they are the same.
Nostalga comes into it here.
