1) Will it work on a Japanese AES?
2) Where exactly does it go on the console?
3) Can it play Japanese MVS carts in English?
4) Can it change the settings on an MVS game (i.e. level of difficulty, free play, etc.)?
5) Can you still use AES carts as normal?

1) Will it work on a Japanese AES?

Yes, games will still play in Japanese unless you have the debug BIOS chip to change it.

2) Where exactly does it go on the console?

It plugs into the cartridge slot and the MVS game plugs onto that, similar to the Game Genie.

3) Can it play Japanese MVS carts in English?

Only if you have the debug BIOS chip.

4) Can it change the settings on an MVS game (i.e. level of difficulty, free play, etc.)?

It will play exactly as the home version of the game, unless of course you have the debug BIOS chip.

5) Can you still use AES carts as normal?

Yes you can.

It gets installed inside the cart system, as a chip soldered to the motherboard. I believe that it is piggybacked on the main system BIOS chip . . .

And btw, the Phantom 1 often will not necessarily work on a cart system, without that system having its slots replaced. My older Neo, s/n 13208, did not work with it when I first got it. !Arcade! replaced the slots on my home cart system with new, much tighter slots, and it worked. However, this system now is difficult to get regular home carts to fit into, without using a great deal of effort. Fortunately I have backup systems, and now use one of them as my primary system; the slot-replaced system is now in storage.

You can go to !Arcade!'s site to learn all about the debug bios chip. He shows where it goes... everything (includes pics). Next Question:

1) What is the URL to !Arcade!'s site?
