Even though I don't have any source to support my theory, but I still don't believe MS AES cart (US) is a rare cart.

It's indeed that SNK US might run a small amount of MS AES in 1996, I believe it should be more than 500

Unless some collectors try to jackup or stockup MS AES carts.......

Those AES carts must be around somewhere......

I dont' think $900 - $1600 is right......

MS 1 US or jap is NOT rare at all.
You are discovering nothing.

The fact is that collectors AND gamers are not willing to let it go.
And to get it you have to pay a lot.
Really rare home carts are Kizuna and U 11 euro version.
Followed by ChibiMaruko Chan deluxe quiz.Really rare cart.

Good point FTL but thing is, why do they all hold on to MS1 ?? MSX is a much better game than 1 e.g. and I suppose wasn`t released in higher quantities than 1 - so it should be $2000 but isn`t. As well with Garou US which is one of the best and a small release - should be $3000+ then but isnt. I keep asking myself that question all the time. Why MS1?
Why is that one so high in price, why not the
others (too)? I think nobody can explain that.

The controversial KofF2000 US is the most rare game. According to NGF they claimed 100 were produced, and according to Shawn, from 1 of his posts, he inferred 22 were made. Although this game maybe going down in value, I am very proud of the game. The people who owns this game know what I mean.

(Let the argument begin)

I totally agree with you. I still don't get it why it's MS1.

Unless few collectors bought lots of them and stock them up........

I may be wrong

Metal Slug 1 is considered by many the most brillant MS.

MS 1 came out in 1996,the year of all rare titles when the carts were underproduced, like Ninja master,Kizuna,Twinkle Star and so on.

Ms x is considered by many not good as MS 1 and was well more produced than MS 1.

As for Nsx-t: Kof 2000 is fake and you can buy 3 copies of it at the neo store which has them in stock for MANY moths and despite of the lowering of the price, continues to show lackluster sales,as it's totally right.

It's possible that NGF has 200 or 2000 fake inserts ready and NGF don't miss a chance to try to offer a NGF kof 2000 in ANY trade you propose them or they propose you.

Final note: my fav MS is ANYONE except the MS 1 which has NO GIRLS. too bad.

You're about the only one "proud" of this game. KOF2K "U.S." was proven to be a fake, partly by the fine research of Kiselgof (who found printing and material irregularities), and partly by SNK Japan themselves. There may indeed have been original KOF2K U.S. artwork (insert, manual, cart sticker) created by SNK Japan, but these were replaced by the freak brothers (aka NGF), to add their idiotic URL to the artwork (insert and manual cover).

I believe that the duo can create new "English" KOF2K carts as needed, by using extra fake artwork that they have available (extra fake inserts, fake manual covers, and fake cart stickers with squared edges). Given this, the value of that cart (which has fallen drastically, won't even sell for $300 on Ebay) will continue to fall.

Fortunately the truth came out about it, and most people won't ever touch one of those tainted carts . . . but there are always exceptions.

For the rest of us, that cart is below worthless . . .

Cough...cough...shameless plug...but you gotta give me a break, I have school and work and I desperately need attention from someone other than teenie-bopper blonde freshman chicks who only have one thing on their minds

Man, I am away for just about three weeks and I miss all this good stuff about new Neo systems, return of Chris Mullins, and chat room conspiracies. I guess it's not really a good time to sell my pristine condition collection for N-G.com price guide prices, eh?

Sincerely,

Mikhail

You're right: $1600 is too cheap (even for a Jpn)

Regarding Demand:
FTL's analysis is correct. Metal Slug 1 is a game that is in high demand, and no one wants to part with it. Moreover, it is the first game in a classic series. Even though superior (in some people's eyse) sequals have been released, this game has a collectable appeal similar to rookie cards.

Regarding Supply:
Look at the collection page. I see quite a few Slug 2, X and 3's but Slug 1 barely seems to make an apperance. I do not think that many people on this board own a copy of MS 1 US (or even Jpn).

Vince has posted in the past that the US Metal Slug 1 had a print run of only 50 copies. I haven't a clue where he got that number, but he might be able to shed some light on the supply of the US version.

IMO, this game is rare and in high demand, hence the expensive price.
