I think it is a very, very good game. Way above average for a beat-em-up.

The characters are cool, except for Kongoh, he's kinda not fun to use.

The graphics are awesome, miles better than that Dungeons & Dragons game people are so crazy about nowadays.

Best Neo Geo insert ever, by far.

What do you guys think?

Totally disagree. It looks like the "artist" who cut and pasted the MVS art/poster, could have done something cooler. I dont know what the best insert is, thats tough, but I know there are more better then this one.

I think it is a very fun game, but I really only enjoy playing it with 2 players.

i dont dislike the insert,
but in me opinion it aint the best ever

i like the spine tho

with that big 2001 in it
thats class

specially cos sen 2001 is sittin next to kof 2000 and they kinda get along well, those spines

and the games got good animations,
but snk never was that good with scrolling beat em ups

best one is still burning fight

or sengoku 2
( even if sengoku aint a 100 % pure SBEU )

i think i still prefer part 2 in the end

but im glad i bought sen 2001,thats for sure...

now....i dig capcom....

and i think final fight,captain commando,tower of doom,cadillacs & dinosaurs,mystara,alien vs predator,warriors of fate and so on...

are about 1298298918218 times better than snk beat em ups

i prefer snk,of course...

but i gotta admit snk sucks with this kind of games

Actually, I've been thinking about how good the spines have been looking on games like S3 and MS3. Who knows, maybe if SNK had another year, they could get the whole Insert right again. I really liked the Metal Slug 2 insert, but the MSX insert was ugly, and other than the spine, the MS3 insert was kind of blah.

I'm sure its legit. But the graphic artist sucked. Maybe SNK was moving shit while this guy was trying to make the insert. Or it was done by the Slug monkey.

It's a shitty game

I didn't believe it until I played the game with nick_the_fury

Fuck.....
I'll never spend $268 for that sucker.......
Maybe $20 but not $268......

There are lots better beat-them-ups then this one.......

Enemies are repetitive.....
only 6 levels..............
boring shit................

Well, I think it really is the best insert... The only ones that rival it IMO are the Last Blade, KOF '98 and maybe the Twinkle Star Sprites insert... And that's a big maybe.

Yeah, it's a cut and paste of the MVS poster, but so are like 90% of inserts, aren't they? I think it's a damn fine insert

Okay, we all know the pinnacle of the beat-em-up genre was Ninja Combat, that's just common knowledge... It was all downhill from that game. The only game that even came close to it was Streets of Rage 2, and actually that managed to equal the sheer greatness that is Ninja Combat... But every beat-em-up has repetitive characters. I don't see how anyone could say with a straight face that the enemies in Sengoku 3 get boring, but the enemies in Final Fight are just bursting at the seams with variety... It's just not possible.

I think the reason I enjoy this game a lot more than most people do is because I don't expect much from beat-em-ups... Aside from Ninja Combat and Streets of Rage 2 (alright, and Burning Fight ) the beat-em-up genre is an extremely tired one... Basically, Sengoku 3 impressed me with it's graphics, the characters are cool, the combos are fun and the music's good, so all in all it was worth the money

I think this beat em up had nothing new to offer over a game such as ninja turtles. I got to use all characters except one (who chainsawyak says is the coolest), but the only one I found decent was falcon (the guy who looks like Galford). There seemed to be some stiffness in movement. It was annoying how you and your opponent could be out of alignment on the screen, and he could hit you, but you couldn't hit him. Also, I can't stand beat em ups where the your oponent stays off the screen where you can't hit him, and he just slashes at you because he has longer reach. Companies making beat em ups should really keep the enemies within the screen. The AI was terrible! Chainsawyak, how long did we just let our characters sit there before one of the enemys decided to even get close to us much less take a swing at us! Also, you knew when the enemy was going to strike because the most common ones would flash a pink or blue color before they swung their staff; the yellow guys who charged at you (when they charge you, just hit up and C, then A to to a jump attack which is weak, but highly effective in getting you out of tight situations) would pause for a second before they charged. Those are pretty much the only bad guys in the first 3 levels, except for these girls who just jump around (really easy to kill), and they make the MOST irritating noise when you hit them. I really want to know why (especially since the levels are of decent length) the game really starts [to get good] at level 4! At that point you get the two new characters, which are good, but not as useful as falcon. The level and enemy designs are actually quite good in brazil and kyoto... USA was okay from what I remember. I think it would have been good to play in an arcade, but I don't think it cuts it for a home game.

It's 2001, we expect more nowadays......
Sengoku 3 may be a huge hit in early Neo stage, but not now......

The two best beat em ups: River City Ransom, and Kunio-Kun No Jidaigeki Da Yo Zenin Shugo for famicom. Character designs in both games lacked, but RCR had a lot of funny comments the bad guys said when you beat them senseless. Also, they both had a role playing aspect by leveling up your character/having enemy bosses join you. Da Yo Zenin Shugo was the best one ever, but RCR held its own. They both always had something more to offer the more you played.

Yeah, but see I don't think any beat-em-up offers anything new, they're all pretty much the same. The only things that are ever really changed are the graphics, and other minor things...

Sublime, your post made me realize that I forgot about River City Ransom. But, that game is really in a class of it's own. Godlike in presence, and really not comparable to anything else, it's just better

I think it would have been good to play in an arcade, but I don't think it cuts it for a home game.

But see, that's what the Neo Geo is... The true arcade experience in your home. When you're playing the Neo Geo, you are playing the arcade. So, your argument obviously holds no water and you are completely wrong.

I love this game. I have spent may quarters at my local arcade on it. Haven't played the home cart I only play MVS.

I think we need more good challenging Beat-em ups. now days my local arcade is full of not much more than Fighters, drivers, and shooters. Where are the beat-em ups, puzelers, and adveture games?

but back to the topic Sengoku 3 is the proof that beat-em up action, with a bit of challeng, and beautifull 2'D graphics are still fun. Sengoku definitally rocks!

Just got my cart today, and finally got to play it a short time ago (was out all day). I like the game, its an old-school beat'em up with cool weapon effects, nice backgrounds, great music, and good mindless play. Sure the enemies are repetitive, but most beat'em ups are that way. I like the character's combos and special attacks especially, adds a bit of variety.

Overall, a nice change from the usual fighting game from SNK, and we're lucky this one came out so near the end of SNK's existence . . .

Best inserts are definitely Twinkle, Ninja Master's and Quiz Chibi Deluxe...

No way! The arcade EXPERIENCE is a completely different entity than the game itself...

I love your one sided comebacks..."you are completely wrong". That cracks my nuts.

Ha! This website is alive! Just as I posted that last comment about the arcade experience, I was dubbed a "Crazzed MVS addict" under my avatar. You have to love that biting wit.

Sengoku 3 is okay, but I think part 2 is the better one.
One thing I thought is missing is the transformations of the playable characters.(unless I'm missing something).
To me the transformations is what makes Sengoku......well, Sengoku
