UK Neo owner being conned out of their systems

I'm writing this wee topic just to see if anybody else has ever done business with a company called "LOADED CONSOLES" and at the end of it getting ripped off.

Around November 99 i had a Neo cd with around 20 games and a Neo AES system with 7 games and in a desperate need for money i decided to sell these items to a guy how advertised great prices given (the owners name was Lee).

I was offered around £500 for the lot, which i thought was reasonable so i decided to sell. But to cut a long story short i only received around £300 (£300 into my bank and a £200 cheque - naive me eh) and the only reason i got the money was i threatened to involve the police.

I called his bank to find out he closed down all accounts and moved his custom to another bank. If anybody else has ever came across him - let me know and if he reads these forums - you are a tosser

Hmm....... Whoever the guy is must have turned face and changed his motivation in life sometime after 97 since that's when Lee dealt with him. Dunno, just a thought.

There have been many posts about Loaded Consoles being a ripoff, here and I'm sure many other places on the web. That guy Lee clearly is a ripoff artist, hopefully he's not still pulling scams on people in the UK or elsewhere.

Bloody hell! What a cunt that Lee is.

I've just read thru that old thread... so what happened in the end?

Supernaught your still around - what's the beef?

I remember the Loaded ads from the back of EDGE - never dealt with them tho. Didn't they have a set up in Wales too?

I hope he's been given a good hiding - certainly deserves one.

I tell you what did make me laugh tho:

Proves my point that Raven are a bunch of price hikeing, robbing bastards.

I think that this all goes to show that there are no outlets in the UK worth turning to unless you are completely desperate.

Telegames -

+ friendly, helpfull, Neo stuff is BRAND NEW (usually factory sealed)

- Very expensive, no good at fixing DC's.

Ravengames -

+ ....er.... fairly helpfull.... that's about it.

- Expensive as fuck considering most of their Neo stuff is 2nd hand. Massive mark ups and crap trade in prices.
Even new game are hideously expensive seeing as they'll be charging £400+ for KoF 2001. Basically these guy's are mercs out to bleed the market.

CEX -

+ Friendly, fairly cheap, good trade in prices.

- Dwindling stock (especially since they shut their retro store). Not very knowledgeable. No new games stocked. No good for mail order - need to visit the Rathbone Place shop.

The only other place I can think of is Fraser's site - and that hasn't been updated for ages so I can't comment on that.

a couple of the retro shops are OK, but they don't really know what they're dealing with and only tend to have stuff you don't want.

My advice is - IMPORT!!

If you're in a desperate hurry for a title go with EMS shipping. I've had stuff arrive from the US and Hong Kong in under 48hrs.
The US and far East are way cheaper to buy from (even with shipping costs), have better stock, and are usually very friendly.

Those of you into MVS - dunno, sorry

It's a shame really that I have to recommend you import, but it's the cheapest way to get into AES apart from the odd bargain that turns up on Ebay.

It's people like those above and this Lee prick who've fucked things up and I doubt the situation will ever improve.

Not wanting to sound like a broken record, but CEX customer service REALLY sucks..
I was thinking it was just me, but virtually everyone I know has been burnt by them at least once..

Their retro shop used to be quite good until they got rid of the good staff and combined it with the main Rathbone Place shop.

I've posted this before, for European Neo-gamers, you might be better off getting the games from Japan and HK which you still end up paying less after shipping, there're a few places in Germany and France which I've actually refered to someone for the games and shipped to US
http://www.atarihq.de
http://www.jeuxvideoimport.com/

Else you can get games from Jyosui in Japan

t_kuroda@bekkoame.ne.jp

You can be on his mailing list which he sends out stocks of Neo-Geo games, you can request to be off the mailing list any time.

You too seem to have got a pretty rough ride.

At one point I was owed probably £400+ worth of stuff and with two months and no sign of anything, I was a little more than worried.

In the end one joystick owed was a pretty good result as far as I was concerned!

As for imorts:

has anyone tried these guys or had any dealings with them?

Cheers

I've been in correspondence with gamechoiceclub a couple of times. Their replies are always courteous and quickly sent.

However... I have not ordered anything from them. That is not to say that I won't try them in the future tho.

I can vouch for Goldenshop. Their service is immpecable. I got my brand new AES within 36 hours of ordering it. All my e-mails were quickly replied to and the info I wanted was given no problem. They even kindly 'fiddled' th shipping docs so I didn't have to pay import duty!

The UK stores are really fucking expensive!

Telegames want 1500 British pounds for a Japanese Kizuna Homecart.

I thought it would be a fucking joke, since 1500 US $ still would be far too high!
