Just thought I would get a public view on them.
I will say I do dislike conversions, because I like neo games the way they were meant to be, (I am not trying to insult, just saying I like things in there natural habitat, if you will)

So what is your stance on conversions, you like them or hate them?
I do not like them because games have got to be destroyed for them to be made.
If you get my drift.

PRE PHANTOM-1 converter I seen no harm in them. Now that the PHANTOM-1 converter exists I see no need in the continual destruction of authentic carts.

I'm not a fan of conversions. I've never bought any of the ones made nefariously (NGF) or otherwise (!Arcade!).

The concept seems a bit wrong.

I could care less about it, but honestly it's really stupid to get one now since a Phantom is so cheap. That's a lot of money that could get you a phantom and the mvs cart you want, not to mention any other MVS games you'd want. It's a lot of money to waste for a snap case and a manual.

The conversions seem fine to me. particularly if the title never had a AES version. I know a couple of people that don't want to bother with the MVS or phantom stuff and just want a cart to work on the home unit they have. A converted cart fills this void well.

It does seem to me that no one gets into the AES stuff to save money They usually want the real deal so doing conversions of titles that are already have AES versions seems, well, just lame.

my two cents

Personally, I care nothing for converted carts. I only care about the real thing, and nothing less. And as Big Bear said, thanks to the Phantom-1 converter, there's virtually no need to do any more conversions. Sure, the packaging and artwork on converted carts look nice, but that's about all it's good for, IMO. Aesthetics mean almost nothing to me; gameplay comes first.

I have nothing against conversions of ureleased MVS games (i actually own two conversions from Lord Akidadus: Shock Troopers and Neo Driftout), but i'm totally against conversions (or better fakes) of officially released AES titles: if you can't afford them on AES, just play it on MVS... that's it!

Well I have nothing against conversion of any game.

To me it is all about enjoying the game. I recently bought the NITD conversion from !arcade! because. it was only slightly more then the NGM version, However I did not buy the shock troopers because I already own it on NGM. But if someone wanted to buy it I would not have a problem with it.

Same goes with those Super rare carts, after all the Metal slug conversion have been out for over a year now and we do not see them being sold as official right? So if someone makes say a kizuna encounters for $299 in a NGH version I do not have a problem with that either. I would not buy it since I already have the NGM version but it would allow others to.

in respect to the Phantom-1 arguement I agree it is able to play all the NGM games and think that is the best way to go. but if one only wants the one game as some would argue (be it metal slug or neo mr do), well now they can just get the one game they would use the convertor with.

The fact of the matter is regardless if someone sells converted NGHs or not it is not hard to make copies of any games and pass them as real if someone wanted to make money. Rare or not.

Pre-Phantom-1, I didn't mind them for games like SDB or ST1.

Now that we have a phantom-1, I see little need for them.

I do not approve of sacrificing carts!
Further, I think rare and classic vgs should be preserved in their natural form.

I have nothing against conversions, just like Brandi if they are unreleased neo geo home cart titles. I used to own a Phantom convertor, but switched back to conversions, because i got tired of the convertor not fitting good in my system and was affraid to damage it sooner or later. Dont get me wrong here, i still think the convertor is a very good piece of hardware, but just not for my system It all depends what kind of system you have.
One thing that i'm against is duplicating roms and selling them for original. Or you do a clean conversion with original roms or you dont do it at all. Like most NGF conversions which probably are all burned eproms sold as original roms and carts.

I personally like conversions. If you ask me, I believe SNK made Fatal Fury 3 for the sole purpose of Conversion Fodder. I'm about to sac my third FF3 for NTM.

I think I remember reading !Arcade! saying they use their own boards for conversions so they aren't sacrificing the carts. I like the idea of unreleased Neo-Geo games that would have never have been released anyway being converted. They are however way too expensive in my opinion. Considering they are not official SNK carts and don't always come with manuals they're price should be lowered. I think !Arcade!'s releases look pretty good and professional too since they don't sacrifice the carts, they give those games people want to play that don't have an MVS system set-up a chance to play them. Now if only they were more reasonably priced.......

I am glad for conversions!
All these games that simply nobody BOTHERED to release for AES..i am glad that there is somebody caring enough for this System to do this job..
and not only on the NEO-if somebody would release HALF-LIFE for Dreamcast,i'd get it in a sec.!
Or the games for the Jaguar that have been released AFTER it's death-i LIKE Battlesphere,Skyhammer and Space War 2000!!!!

There might be an opportunity to get this DUKE NUKEM version for GENESIS!
I can't wait for it!!!!

Yes-if the big companies don't give a shit( ),i'll take my conversion ANYTIME!!!
