if I were you Id get the old version VHS. The voices in the dvd make me want to shoot myself they are so bad.

Yeah, the voices on the DVD are weak. Get the VHS.

Although, if you get the DVD you can do what I do... Switch it to original Japanese WITHOUT subtitles! I've watched the film so many times I know what everyone says anyway. ;)

I agree too. the new Dub is tolerable, but with the original one, the same actor that did Max Sterling and Scott Bernard from Robotech (and Leonardo from Ninja Turtles Cartoon) does Kaneda's voice. it rocks! Also, the same person who did Takashi's voice in the original dub did the voice for Tails in Sonic Adventure for JPN Dreamcast.

yeah so that info is pointless, but still.

All to true. I would personally like to hunt down a Criterion Laser Disc copy. It is in Widescreen, has a ton of extra features, and it has the original voices. Plus you can pick a LD player up on Ebay for about $30-50 these days.

But if you really want the DVD version, just go to any electronics store that DVD's are sold. Akira can still be found on the shelves at most places.
