Ok, this question is directed at everyone:

If someone simply gave you a brand new home cart system, would you "deflower" the system by actually playing it or would you pull the old bookshelf routine? Even a gamer has to think twice about deflowering a new system IMO.

I would de-flower it like a drunk cheerleader. And love every second of it.

Hmmmm....If I never had a neo geo system and got a brand new home system then the first thing I would do is get some games and play it as however i have a super gun and mvs,i would store it in a cabinet, unsealed and smile forever

I don't believe games and systems were made to be display pieces. If I had a brand new, never played AES system, I'd send it in to get the audio/video/BIOS mods done, and then I'd play the shit out of it when I got it back. If I got my hands on a mint, complete copy of US Metal Slug 1, I'd play it all the damn time.

Collectors who don't play are destroyers of not just the Neo scene, but all game consoles. If you're not going to play the games, sell them to someone who will.

Games were meant to be both played & collected. Game systems, on the other hand, were meant to be just played, period. After getting an AES-to-MVS converter, I'd play it a ton, whenever I can (whenever being "when I don't have a ton of college work to do"). Sure, a new system could fetch a fortune on eBay, but so could a lot of other things.

Wow, $500 is a good deal, $800 is burning cash, and $1000 would be like getting kicked in the balls. I know people will get mad at me for saying this but Shawn is a business man and nobody has to buy that system if it's too high. People shouldn't be so angry. If the price was $300, they would have sold out before anyone could have a shot at them. $1000 is the cost of availability. You wont find a genuine virgin AES anywhere else.

Shawn said that if the last AES (priced $1000) will not be sold by the end of this day, he will keep it in his personal collection... So hurry, anyone need a brand new AES?!? Bargain price!!!

He also said he wanted to have them for LONGER than one day!

He wants to have them in stock longer than one day so much so that he hikes the price up to borderline INSANITY and then declares if that unit doesn't sell today, he won't sell it.

What kind of bullshit is this? "I want them to last longer than one day but if they don't last longer than one day I wont sell them...p.s. I'm going to up the price incrementally while I'm at it".

Blaine, you made some valid points about Shawn's actions. But surely, many of us would do the same thing if we were in his shoes. How often does one find a new Neo Geo? And do you know of any other old systems that are high in demand?
I wish I bought one of those new US Neos at !Arcade! so I could have all the goodies without going through the pain of repairs like with my US Neo.
If I were to receive a new Neo, I'd play it and sell the used ones.

Shit, I would play it. These systems weren't meant to last forever (even if unused), so why not get out of it what you paid for it.
