The aftermath of Samhaim's ban - Some thoughts

I've just discovered the new episode in the long saga of drama of n-g.com. I can't say I am surprised that Samhaim has been banned: what really amazes me is that it has taken SO LONG for this retard to get banned.

I hope this will teach a lesson to all those of you who voted for the War Room to stay in these forums. Why do I say this? Stop to think for a minute:

Where do people like Samhain, FFFURYSS or X-Death make 99% of their posts? Why, in the War Room, of course. Some of you argue that the existance of the War Room serves to avoid having flame wars and similar stuff in the rest of the forums; that demagogical argument is proven wrong every single week, when a new troll surfaces.

What this site needs is the mods to remove the War Room, implement a user agreement which clearly prohibits this kind of behaviour, and then there would be no more problems like these. If someone would post shit like Samhain's did in the general forums, would it be tolerated? Obviously not. Then why do we have to degrade all the rest of the forums with the obnoxious presence of people like these? Remove the War Room and you will have removed the problem: people like Samhain wouldn't have the slightest interest in being in this site in the first place, if their natural habitat was removed. Plain and simple. Ignore this basic truth and you'll be actively promoting their behaviour.

Yes, I know I make more of this issue than most people. I just cannot tolerate the fact that people like this roam freely in this site. To see Tsukaesugi flamed by morons like Samhain was bottom line for me.

I know there are many people who use the War Room for other matters; but the fact is that my argument still stands: people like Samhain WOULD NOT BE HERE if the War Room did not exist, plain and simple. If they even tried to pull of the same kind of shit in the other forums they would be banned in minutes, not months. I know that you, for example, enjoy posting comic topics, porno, and the like in the War Room, and I have no problem at all with that. But why don't just post them in Unrelated and have a more strict policy on trolls?

I honestly think that would much improve the quality of this site and make all of us "normal" people feel more at home here. Nobody likes getting flamed by morons and threatened by criminals, I think!

I think the war room was created in order to stop trolling that spilled over to other rooms. So to say that axing the war room will nip trolling in the butt is like removing park benches and punks won't hang out in town square anymore. You can tell the war room creates quite a fun atmosphere most of the time, like with totally wild stuff like Ippai Oppai Daisakusen, Cybersex from Cyberninja, or Softcore porn threads.

Nahh - I think the war room can be a fun place, somewhere for people to make stupid 'spam' topics if they are bored stupid, or just want to have a bit of a rant.

The truth is, only a couple people actually start major flame-wars there, and they have both been dealt with.

Instead of getting rid of the war room - they should rename it the 'Pointless SPAM' room (or whatever) and tighten up the posting rules a bit more.
Y'know, same posting rules as most forums, but you can post porn/hentai and go wildly off-topic.

Just a thought.......

besides lovecrafty - members like samhain, albeit blatantly unique, only represents .07% of the neo-geo.com population, lesser degree compared to the masses, don't you think. the war room still had serve the purposes, it may not have stopped the garbage that sometimes stray off the other respectable forum but, otherwise it is utilized as intended for the very most part.

admit it tho, there are some funny members, funny flame wars, blackninja's cyber fantasy scripts, that get posted in there. funny parts of the war room that is entertaining to break monotonous mundane programming days, don't you think? wink

Yes, of course there is funny stuff as well. Go over my previous posts and you'll see that I completely agree on that. What I think is that the War Room as it stands now is the natural habitat of people like Samhain, FFFSS, X-Death, and so on. I agree with what has been said before of MODIFYING it and its rules, instead of removing it. Either way it's the same to me, since the results would be nearly identical.

Look Lovecraft, I know you have the best intentions in mind, but, seriously I don't know why people get so worked up about stuff on this page. So someone threatens you... great... who cares. They will get banned, there is a no tolerance for threats here I thought. So trolls hang out in the War Room... great... who cares, I go in there maybe once every three months... and usually thanks to some link in General that links to a hyped up thread.
