I'm trying to get my mom to understand how to play, but I don't think she's capable of anything above Puyo Puyo level. So up til now it's only been Puyo Puyo 4 on my dreamcast, but now that I have a neo I'll try to make her play some Puzzle Bobble with me (and maybe even league bowling!).

My dad use to play Street Fighter 2 with me, back in the SNES days... but my mom... nahhhh, she thinks she can't figure it out, so she doesn't even try. She can't figure out the controller either... which gets me mad, cause she will just look at them and be like I can't figure it out.... JUST HOLD IT IN YOUR HAND! Nahh... really, they don't play much... never Neo.. but they use to watch when I was playing. My dad use to be like "Kick him in the head... that will make him go down quicker" ... hehe, see he is a big martial arts guy, holds a few black belts... so he was being all realistic... I was like... dad... the flaming upper cut is more powerful, I will hit him with that...

So, yeah, back in the day... they would sort of play... but... well... I've been away from home for a while, so they never saw the Neo except on visits to my pad... and I don't normally play then.

My parents are the ultimate representation of technological illiteracy-

The farthest my dad ever got into videogames was playing Atari 2600 Yars Revenge with me because I begged him to...

And my mom? She couldn't grasp the technical intricacy of the power switch on the Neo AES.

I've begged/coaxed my dad into playing some Neo Geo a few times over the years. He can be a sport sometimes and give it a whirl, even though he's borderline adamantly opposed to video games and favors pinball instead. Which I find ironic as all hell because if it wasn't for him bringing game systems into the house when I was a kid or taking me to arcades even before that, I probably wouldn't be the video gaming fool I am now.

Anyway, out of the games I've got him to try, so far Metal Slug 1 is his favorite. We've even played this one together and damn near got up to Morden (I turned the game off once he ran out of credits). I had it figured out he'd like Nam '75, but the control lay out frustrated him way too easily.

My mother on the other hand used to like video games, especially on the Odyssey 2 and NES systems. Anything higher than 8-bit and she won't even touch it. She used to be partial to Turtles (Odyssey 2) and Duck Hunt and Super Mario. I can't imagine a Neo Geo game that would look simple and cute enough to get her to try it out.

My dad was responsible for getting me into videogames, but he hasn't touched a game since the Genesis days. I wouldn't let him near my Neo. God only knows what he'd do to it.

lol I can identify. As grateful as I was for my dad playing Neo Geo, I kept catching myself flinching every single time his finger would BANG those buttons on my joystick controllers. That's why he's been using that nice little control pad that came with the Neo CD after the first few times of playing. :D

My dad loves tetris but starts getting confused when a game calls for more than one button.

I've only seen my Dad playing my MVS cab once, it was late in the evening and I forgot to switch it off, the game was Puzzle Bobble. But I don't think he would power it up just because he wants to play. My mom never liked videogames and hates computers so no chance for her...

My dad thinks VG's are bad and that I should do this thing called "get a life" and "go outside" . My mom before she got a job would play SNES with me all the time. She beat most of Super mario before I could. She liked anything mario, as long as mario was on the cover it became a game she liked. Once the 64 came around which was about the time she got her job she fell of the wagon. She couldn't play 3-d games cuz she'd convulse or sometin. I'm recently trying to get her addicted to Chu Chu Rocket

when i gave him the pad, he didnt try and use the D-pad, instead we waved the pad around left n right in the air like some freaked out 16bit future "air" peripheral lol

My dad was quite the hypocrite. He would play Yars' Revenge on the 2600 over and over yet would remind me that games are a waste of time. He vowed never to buy me a videogame. My mom was more indifferent but still never bought me any game.

Later on, my dad got hooked on Top Gun on NES.

I also remember my dad taking my videogames away from me when he noticed my grades were falling in 11th grade. He took my Genesis, NES, Lynx, and Gameboy away until summer vacation came along. Little did he know that it was soon after he did that I dropped the bomb and bought a NEO GEO... I still laugh at that, and he still doesn't know about this MO.
