won't it be great that you'll still be playing neo?

I can see it now... My 70 year old ass mopping the floor with some little scrub at KOF 3000 or something like that.

Seriously, I can't wait to see what my game collection will look like when I'm older. Anyone else think they'll still be gaming when they're old and grey?

At the old gamers' nursing home:

Crazy old guy: What's that?

Me: That's my catheder.

Crazy old guy: No, the other thing.

Me: Oh, that's my Neo Geo.

Crazy old guy: Why does your catheder say PS2 on it?

Me: POWER GEYSOR!!!!!!!!

(Crazy old guy falls to the ground.)

Me: OKAY!

(Tosses hat onto ground.)

By the time I get old games will be so far advanced that the reality of the 3D will probably kill me. Heart attacks and all. You know how it goes. Lawnmower man all over again.

The only thing that would give me a heart attack is if someone tied me to a chair and forced me to play the Lawnmower man game for SNES.

If you actually get to play KOF 3000 then you're like a fucking immortal or something. Have you been taking advantage of reading night at the Jins' residence? eek!

will the games still be working by that time? I'm always aware of the games life time. I heard somewhere that after certin period of time (20 years I think), the battery will die and so the game.

is that true? if so, is there a way to avoid it?

Look at Atari 2600 games.

They've been around longer than I have and I still play them.

What kind of battery do you see in the Neo games? With proper care, video games should last forever. Look at my old Atari collection sometime if you aren't convinced. Most of those games are over 20 years old now and they still work fine.

uh I said I'm not sure. I just remeber reading something like that before and there was a whole thread for this subject. not sure whether it mentioned batteries or not but I remeber it was about "what will you do when your NEO games stop working". I am just wondering if it's true

I can understand a battery going dead on a game like zelda for nes or something like that - making it a major pain in the ass to play the game (unless you like to finish it in one sitting). But a lot of games really don't need a battery for anything - like most shooters don't really store information from a previous game, right?

I really don't see a need for a battery in any of the neo games i own (LB1&2, samsho1,2,4, MS3), and until somebody proves me wrong (which could easily happen quite soon) I'll go on believing that there isn't some battery (whose existence is pointless) just waiting around like a time bomb ready to ruin my expensive neo carts when the clock runs out.

Anybody ever cracked these things open and seen a battery hanging around?

Yeah, I sometimes wonder what old age will do to my fighting game reflexes. Guess I'll find out, because I will probably still be sitting there with my friends playing KOF 98! All the while our grandkids will be laughing at us for playing such a decrepid old game. To which we will laugh in our crotchety old man voices at the pour, uneducated masses wasting their money on the next Halo sequel.

I better start practicing my Shun-Di, drunken gibberish laugh!

Maybe Eiji will be in one of them. :p :p

For some reason I'm imagining this BGM with vocals on the Neo now...
"Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm sixty-four?"

Thats a pretty interesting point, as its pretty much impossible to have any long-term results on the effects of videogaming for decades. I'm sure people who played games when they first hit the market in the late 70s/early 80s wrote them off as a fad and didn't get much further than the 16-bit era. However gamers of today have likely been playing SINCE the 16-bit or 8-bit era and the long term effects (i.e. Into your middle age) have yet to be seen.

Oh well.

That's the thing, I've been playing since the days of the 2600, and I'm still improving. So when I'm old, I'll ether have lightning fast reflexes, or a severe case of carpul tunnel.

Hell, it would take me 70 years to just see all of Chrono Trigger's endings.

I think I'll be dead before I'm 70, but if I'm still alive I will be playing my Neo 'til I drop dead.
