Would you recomend the Neo Geo CD system?

I already have AES, but being in college and having to buy a new car and stuff is tough on the budget. So ive been considering getting a Neo CD system so I can finally afford most of the games I want.

Are load times, or any other issues, significant that I should know about before hand?

Thanks. =)

I read that there is an emulator available that only allows you to play original NGCD's. That is an option but you can forget about playing the latest releases.
GO MVS ala Jamma device or get a Phantom-I.

Yes I would, but I think this thread will answer any questions you might have:

I use to own the neo cd and the loading was crap especially for games like savage reign and the fact it loaded each time you used a diff team member for the kof series it made the flow of the games a bit lame especially if u just about beat A fighter with minimum life left and wait for it to load in the next fighter then get hit twice and then wait for loading again!

however if they had brought out the cdz first off all then im sure games would still be being made for it but they brought it out FAR too late when people all had the shitty slow loader.

Now obviously you can get hold of the cdz sysytem pretty cheap and then you got a wealth of games you can get cheap too plus the cd games sometimes have better extras on them like with metal slug and the ranking system mode.

but... as you know they stopped making games for it a few years back now so you are at a dead end if you want new releases, thats the only set back, i honestly dont see why a company dont take over and make games for the system as after all cds are cheap to make and im sure there would be a market for them.

When i went back to mvs the only thing that made me go that way was because of no new games because if the games were still being made i would have got the cdz myself then got all the new games like kof2002 cheap.
get a super gun and mvs as most mvs game are pretty cheap too.

Thanks for the link Ghost Dog. Very informative.

I think im a bit frightened off now though. I think ill just stick it out with the AES and Dreamcast/Saturn ports for awhile till I think about this some more. Or have some more disposable income.

If I do get one im definately getting the CDZ model though.

Get a phantom-1 or a a MVS set-up. Loose MVS carts are as cheap as NGCD games, and they play just the same (or even better, depending on your set-up) than AES carts.

i know its not not relevant to this topic but, if i would buy a mvs could i still get a unibios to make it play like homesystems. or is this feature only for phantom 1. whats the big difference between phantom1 and mvs.

i really cant afford to buy something thats not as good as sometjing thats so similar yet even better.

I would like to go the route of an MVS Supergun. Ive had a Phantom 1, and I didn't like it. I still have some of my MVS games, like Last Blade, etc.

I was going to buy an MVS board and build my own supergun once, but I dont think I have the technical skill to do it. Is there anyplace where I can buy an MVS supergun thats already made?

I have had a Neo CD system for 4 years and haven't had any problems with it. The thing is (like everyone else is saying) is the load time. It can be downright, annoying but it doesn't bother me that much because that is the best that I can do right now as far as owning a Neo system. I don't have much money to work with right now and it is the best I can do until I get a Supergun and MVS kit or an AES Cart system.
