Guys do you think the time is right for Playmore to release a slimmer neogeo cd system with more ram and faster cd drive to cope for their newer games?
If they steadily release games maybe it might be a decent console.

Not everyone can afford metal slug 5 carts, is a cd version expected for neo cd?

There will not be a release of MS5 on NGCD. I can say this pretty confidently, seeing as MS X, 3 and 4 did not see a CD release.

i was actually kicking this concept around in my head earlier today.

i propose taking the original neo geo cd, and building a sort of a neo geo cd 2 around it. the system must be backwards compatible with the original cd's and should support a new standard like dvd's, which could store the newest software. a beast of this sort would certainly put playmore on the map. mr_t

There was a Neo Geo CD 2, it was called the Dreamcast.

Sounds like a good idea. They may even market it mainstream.

Look out Gaystation 2 and Crack-Box!! eek!

how much do you think playmore would charge for a dvd type console (a la PS2/Xbox....heck even GC sized disks)

It's a great idea, but I wouldn't expect it to become a reality. Making it a powerhouse would cost too much, and I doubt it would see much third party support.

If they just made a more powerful unit by the 90's standards with a faster drive and lots of system memory, that would be perfect. They could release the post KOF 99 games that never came out on CD for a nominal price of $39.99 to $49.99... and port all the newly released games as well. They could sell the new NGCD unit for $199 or therabouts, they wouldn't cost much to make.

Wait, that would be logical wouldn't it? Don't hold your breath.

The climate for a move like this is different now than it was back in the mid-late 90's where lots of companies were clamoring to release a new system. I would think they would face a really hard time just getting places to carry the system, not to mention trying to market it.

It would be solely marketed to the hardcore fans, in places like this site and NCSX.com I would imagine. It would not be profitable to make them in large numbers. In fact, a preorder basis kind of thing would be the best way to go about it.

I can tell you this, if Playmore made such hardware, and the load times were next to nothing like a Dreamcast game I would spend up to $399 for one. Provided they were going to not only reissue some of the older titles, but port the post KOF 99 ones and on.

If someone wants to make a petition, I would be happy to sign it and point a few friends to it.
