My buddy in Japan went nuts and bought me a Samurai Spirits slot machine for my birthday (click <a href="http://www2q.biglobe.ne.jp/~onishi/nakosro/" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="http://cheebay.virtualave.net/SamuraiSprits/sss.htm" target="_blank">here</a> for images, if you're interested).
He was pleased with the deal he got on it, and I'm completely stoked at the thought of having this thing in my gaming room... but the trouble lies in how to ship it from Kanagawa-ken to Las Vegas.
This beast has a shipping weight of 45kg, which is 10kg over the Japanese post office's limit of 35kg. My friend is looking for a Japanese shipping company that can handle a parcel/container this heavy, without charging him both arms and legs in shipping fees (and hopefully without taking several months to complete its journey). Neither of us has sent anything quite this heavy across the Pacific before, but I thought maybe a few folks here might have.
To any members who've shipped heavy Japan-to-U.S. parcels before -- and especially to any members living in Japan (beelzebubble, Honeyman, tsukaesugi -- Neo Bomber Man, are you still in Japan?) -- what are your recommendations for shipping something like this.
