Can KOF2k1 surpass MOTW as the best fighter on the Neo?

Ok, here's a good question. I've been playing the hell out of my SuperGun, and I have been hitting up KOF2k. Last night I popped MOTW back in and I'm immediately reminded why I like it more than KOF2k. It's faster, prettier, and is just more fun than the latest KOF (I also think it's way better than KOF 98). Also for the past 3 fridays, my MVS setup has been at my school and has been getting a lot of playtime, and the number one game is MOTW. In fact KOF2k is barely played, they either want LB2, SS4 or SS2 in there if MOTW isn't.

So my question is, can the new KOF2k1 surpass MOTW as the best fighter on the Neo? The sprites and animations haven't changed much in KOF the past few years, where as MOTW has far better animation, sprites, and colors. It seems that they just re-use the sprites from the previous years KOF game. Now it's not just graphics that I'm talking about. MOTW is just a blast to play, it has that fun feel to it that KOF just doesn't. I'm hoping for a new game to emerge from either this "New SNK" or a 3rd party developer on the Neo that can really just kick some ass, and not just be a rehash (unless it's a MOTW rehash <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> ).

uhm, MOTW isn't the best fighter on Neo. no offense, but i'd take any KOF over MOTW. KOF just has much more interesting gameplay than MOTW, more characters, much better combo engine, and no noticeable simplification.

don't get me wrong, MOTW is one of the best games ever, but it just doesn't live up to KOF...

And as for KOF2K1, they seriously cleaned up the animation, it looks a lot smoother than 2K. still, it's no MOTW or AOF3, but... it's nice.

I am waiting to see... I love MOTW, and I own a lot of the KOFs... 96, 97, 98, and 99... but I can never really get into them all hardcore... I mean, I like them... but at the same time, they don't hold my interest. The gameplay is slow and is a lot more technical, I really like an all out brawl. Bahhh, maybe it is just because I always have to play the CPU since hardly anyone wants to play KOF with me... Anyway, I am waiting for 2K1, looks damn cool to me, can't wait to try it,

well in my opinion motw is not the best game on the neo geo .it plays great and looks great but there are better games,shodown 2 for instance,i also love kof 98 and 99 but do not like 2000 too much,hopefully this game will be a vast improvement over 2000,if however it can be better than motw i think there is a chance <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I would love it if KOF01 was awesome, but KOF00 wasn't even the best KOF anyway (It was partial SNK), so what makes anyone think that '01, whick is SO not SNK, will even be better than KOF00?

I'm holding my breath on this one.

I am left and right on the issue.
FFS IMO, is the best fighter the neo has to offer.
The best fighter I consider more of a personal opinion then fact, much like the price guide.

Between the two, I would have to say KOF 2000, it has more to offer in terms of combo's, and characters.
Garou is a very good fighter IMO as well.
Just not as good as KOF 2000.

I guess I don't get the combo system of KOF. MOTW is a little easier for me to pick up. I've been raised on Capcom 2D fighters, so I guess I'm having trouble adjusting. It's also a slower fighter than MOTW, and I almost always like the faster paced fighters more than the more technical but slower ones. I actually had more hours logged on Marvel vs. Capcom 2 than Street Fighter Alpha 3 (I can feel the snickers, from all of you!). I just like a faster game, don't know why. Must be my personality.
Plus in MOTW it's easier to "Juggle".
