I think you mean Sonic Wings 2 or 3 and the answer is most assuredly 2. The levels on 3 are REALLY short. 2 is a much better game.

And yes, you new Av is quite all that. From what is the image taken.

Well my favorite airplane shooters on the Neo are:

1. Strikers 1945
2. Aerofighters 3
3. Aerofighters 2
4. Ghost Pilots

I prefer 3 because of it;s insane twitch gameplay, and so many... so many different levels to fly over (like 35+) that even change depending on certain coditions to become even more bizarre (different bosses, enemies, etc)... Add to that the bonus levels, which are just killer (9-16). There is so much replay value in 3, it is really a game you will play over and over and over and still see new things in it. But 2 was one of the first games I ever bought for my Neo and I still love it to death, it is a great game, although it looks kind of dated next to 3... Just opinions... I agree with Fran, get them both, you can't go wrong.. It is not like a normal sequel, both games are very different in the way they play... you can't go wrong with either one.

Sonic Wings 2. 3 is a turd. A flying one at that.

Also in SW2, you get different endings for every different combination of characters you beat the game with.

And the final boss, even that can vary.

The level order, is mostly, but not entirely, linear.

Does it have the feeling of real fun? Just as sure as chimpmeister's bound to say how much the SW series stinks , you bet.

And, it's got Video System-glish. Always an attraction.

Although, if you can get the original on JAMMA or whatever it may run on, pick it up, because though less colourful and stuff, it's more intense than any of the rest of the series, not that I've ever played Sonic Wings Limited.

It's even got Whitey the Dolphin, Spanky in the English ones. Simply put, you can't go wrong.

Funny thing though, on my Aero Fighters 2 NGH, Hi-en's bomb noise is weird.. shitty compared to what it sounds like in the arcade.

C'mon now everyone..

We all know Aero Fighters 2 ownz j00 when it comes

to top-down shooters.

3's levels are too hard.
The bombs in 3 are gay.

and everything Fran said.

Ghost Pilots is ok, with a choice of bombs,
but no (or few) power ups

and your plane moves too slow to dodge enemy fire

plus the backgrounds in GP are the same color as your ship

making it hard to see what's going on

Now ASO II isn't too shabby either.
That one's a class game

with its wacky power up system and high difficulty

As far as Blazing Star and Pulstar go

I haven't played them

but I don't care much for horizontal shooters, so...

AF1 is not a NeoGeo game, but I think you already realized that.

Anyways, which is better? Well, let's compare:

AF1:
- Vertical screen, allowing room for impressive-looking bosses.
- Not a NeoGeo game.
- You play through 7 stages out of, I think, 8.
- You don't restart the last stage if you continue there (thank goodness), but the final boss is still hard.
- Second loop has no difficulty increase; it's just the same as the first loop.
- Not as silly as the later AF games (no monkeys, no eyeballs, none of that).
- Pretty decent shooter, overall.
- No Cindy & Ellen . Oh well, guess I'll have to settle for Mao Mao (lemme add that the F-15's bomb attack sucks if you're not powered up enough).

AF2:
- Horizontal screen, not necessarily a bad thing.
- A NeoGeo game.
- You play through 10 stages; sometimes the order of stages are random. Also, the last boss is random.
- Unless the other player is still alive, you restart the last level if you continue there; yuck, I hate R-Type.
- The hardest AF game out of the three; second loop just screams "Stop hogging the machine and let the other people play!!!".
- Some AF1 bosses have been shrunk to big targets.
- Now it gets silly, especially in the last level (a monkey flying a ship?). And the Engrish
- Pretty decent shooter, overall.
- First appearance of Cindy & Ellen. Were it not for them, I would've never been so attracted to this game

AF3:
- Again a horizontal screen, and again a NeoGeo game.
- You play through 8 stages out of, well, a lot. Trust me, you're not gonna see all the stages in one loop. Also, the last boss is random too. Unfortunately, the stages are short
- Again with the "restart the last level if you continue there" bit. I hate that
- The easiest AF game out of the three; I can get to the last level on one credit, something I can't do on AF1 and 2. And even the second loop isn't so hard.
- More AF nostalgia. Witness the shapeshifting boss that can sometimes turn into that gunboat boss from AF1. Or the monkey/ghost combination.
- Silliness at its maximum!!! Not much Engrish, but the planes are just weird now. Different powerup and bomb capacities, and some of the bomb attacks are just out there. And let's not forget the monkey.
- Pretty decent shooter, overall.
- They put Cindy & Ellen on the lamest plane in this game!!! It can only hold 1 powerup, and its bomb attack blows. Yuck!!! Give me the F-14 any day.

So there you go. My suggestion: Get all 3
