Who here actually owns a US/English Metal Slug 2 Cartridge?

Despite the constant harping I see on this board regarding the value and supposed rarity of the original Metal Slug, I still can't help but think that the US version of MS2 is by far rarer than either version of MS. While MS turns up on eBay every so often, MS2 US goes practically unseen. I tried getting the US version of MS2 way back in 98, when the game came out, but the best I could do was scoring a Japanese copy from NCS, and ever since I've been stuck with it. I've had a few offers tossed my way that would've allowed me to acquire said game, but I didn't feel like taking the screwing that some of the "collectors" here are so well known for dishing out. So, I just wanted to conduct a little survey and see who all actually has this game.

I don't thinkl that many who own the game will actualy tell you they have it. that way the cart looks more rare and becomes even more valuable. just some food for thought. I know I would not tell anyone.

I was going to buy one for $180 and two glow sticks but my offer was refused. I still don't see why the guy didn't want my glow sticks. He then emailed me back (with a big FU) and told me that he didn't want to go that low. He then said it went for $190 and was sold. He then emailed me back again and asked me if I was still interested and I said yes. He didn't email me back again. What a dumb shit!

Hey, DolphinLord! What do you mean that you have been looking for an English one since 1998? That copy that I am mentioning was on your site and this was back in the fall of 1998. You should have gotten it. Too busy studying for finals at TCU to notice ehh... :D

What I can tell you for sure is that there is no more than 100 copies of U.S. MS2 produced. Also, no less than 95 either.

Sounds good. So I can expect my US KOF 2000 to skyrocket in value as well. ;)

It's not for sale, though.

Luckily I got one. I paid about 800 DM´s for the game back in 2000. I got it on Ebay in absolutely mint condition. Can someone confirm the amount of 100 copies of US MS 2? I just can´t believe it... REALLY?

In my time here, TRIEUMINATOR (Vinh) has never jumped the gun and said anything incorrect. If he says that Metal Slug 2 had a run of 100, I'm inclined to believe him.
Especially since I've seen a handful for sale in the last year, while I've seen Metal Slug for sale many times (although it was the same copies repeatedly).

Carlson commented a ways back that according to what he's been told, there are only 50 US Slug 1's, which, even if Trieu is correct, means its still rarer than MS2. It still has been a while since anyone has sold a US Slug 1. JP Slug 1's do seem to pop up on a fairly regular basis.

Ms 1 and MS 2 US version are rarer than jap counterpart as sure thing.

But,to go further and say 100 copies made of Slug 2 US or Slug 1 US,that's quite steep looking at it in a business perspective.

100 copies or 50 copies of metal slug 2...

50 copies of metal slug 1 us.
....

Funny

In france ms1 us had a release like other games.
not a mass release, but really MORE than 100copies just for France.

it's...really a joke to say:
there are only 50 copies, 100 copies.

Why can you say that?Any proof.

you do'nt see the game often, also this is a 50/100 copies release...

give me a official SNK Germany or Snk us paper with

"metal slug 2 us limited 50/100 copies"..

or you can say what you want, not wiht no proof...

no proof.

magical drop 2 jap : only 5 official copies...

any proof?
I AM SURE, and i am reliable guy.

Actually the magic "50" number was posted by Vince Yang on Dolphinlord's Neo Geo club a couple years ago. A number, which in my opinion, has little merit.

I bought a US Slug 2 off someone on the DHP list back in '99. I paid $185 shipped for it. I've since sold it (damn). I still have my Jap Slug 2 that I bought at release though.

no it's not. why should I care about telling people (who I don't know) what I own. just let the shit go up in value over time.

There are more copies of Metal Slug 2 US out there than you think. It is still rare though. Most of the copies in our communtiy are in people's collection. I'm sure there are many people who have this game that don't even know about neo-geo.com. Unless you are trying to complete your Neo collection, I would go for Metal Slug X, way better than Metal Slug 2 I think.

Anyone who doesn't own Metal Slug 2 US home cart is a jaded idiot. Oops, wrong thread . . .

But seriously, I have to believe that it isn't very common. It almost never goes up for auction on Ebay and I rarely see it for sale elsewhere. Witness the insane bidding for Kenny Boy's copy when that hit Ebay . . . pent up demand took that throught the roof!

But also, I agree with Neo Rasa, Metal Slug X is a better game than Slug 2 by far. At one time I actually had THREE Slug X carts in my collection, due to having bought extras from SNK USA when they blew them out. Sold one of those, and now all I have to do is find the other two . . . misplaced them somewhere, damn it!!
