Hi, my name is Greg, but my friends call me Bish0p. I collect arcade machines and just aquired my first MVS system. It's a 2-slot, and I have bust-a-move, KOF '96, Samurai Showdown 4 and Strikers 1945 plus. I have a few questions I hope you guys can help out with:

1. How can I be sure my games are not fake? Some of my games have a holo-sticker on them over the title, and some don't. That's the only difference I've noticed.

2. Where can I trade Strikers for Garou. I looked on EBAY and strikers goes for 120$ and Mark Of The Wolves for 75$, so this seems fair to me. I have only the cart, and I'm looking for only another cart. If there's more, I'll pay more.

3. The 'test' switch in my machine doesn't seem to take me to the soft-dip settings. Is there a trick? How do I know it's hooked up right?

I am a software engineer and fighting game fanatic. My cabinet is a conversion from a nice 29'' cabinet. I'm reworking the control panel this weekend. If anyone wants to recommend a fighting game I might not have played, I'd appreciate it. I'm new to the scene and the only neo-fighter I played before last week was Samurai Showdown.

I appreciate any help!! Thanks!

1) For the most part, you have to open them up. Then look for soldered jumper wires, and EPROMS. I'm not much help here.

2) Try the selling forum

3) Checkout www.hardMVS.com There is a pinout in the Downloads section that you can check to see if it is wired up right. Dollars to doughnuts that the Test button is wired for Jamma and not MVS.

Hope that helps

well, I'm not opening any carts. If they are original, having a split title will make them worthless anyway. I just wanted some way of verifying so I could honestly tell someone one way or the other before I traded.

I'll bet you're right about the Jamma thing. This is a conversion, and the guy who did it was pretty lazy about the whole deal, that's why I'm stuck re-working the panel this weekend.

thanks!!

Sent you info via PM

Edit, in case anyone asks, was giving contact info for some members of this board that are extremely trustworthy to deal with that I know sell MVS items.

It really doesn't matter if you tear the label on an MVS cart, as very few of them have any real collectors value.

Congrats on ur purchase! MVS cabs are a lot of fun, I know, I have 2 :D

FYI, http://www.hardmvs.com kicks ass for tech info......

On checking carts for eproms etc.., it really is possible to open a cart without damaging the label if you are careful. If nothing else, you can peek in to look for eproms & loose wires.

Good luck, have fun

hello and welcome, i hope you enjoy your stay, im sorry i cant think of anyway to help you as im not good with all the technical stuff. As for good fighting games most of the fighting games snk have done are good. Get some king of fighters going and samurai showdown, also the fatal fury ones. I would say art of fighting 2 but then again thats because its one of my personal faves games in the world. :)

Welcome and have fun :D

And since everyone already answered your questions I'll suggest a game for you, Waku Waku 7.

Its an odd yet incredibly fun and addictive fighting game, get it now.

K9999 Do you know where I could pick a copy of that up for my MVS system?
