The Offending Article

Is that the Actual cart and box for Ganryu Aes or a mock up?

The Samurai illustrations are quite obviously the American artists Frank Miller and Lynn Harvey's terrible renditions of Ogami Itto and his son Daigoro, as seen on the cover of the American trade paperback of the comic "Lone Wolf and Cub".

Those are what caught my eye on the cover and cart label of the Ganryu AES Cart. Does anyone else notice this?

I doubt that Dark Horse or Frank Miller would be commissioned to do the art, considering that Ganryu is not about Ogami Itto, lol.

I hope this helped,

I'm pretty sure that's NGF's converted Ganryu. And no they didn't get permission to use the art.

This is a conversion of the MVS version of Ganryu made by Dion Dakis and Chris Ray, whom compose the greater evil NGF (Neo Geo Freak).

Being the scumbags that they are, they just stole some one elses art (Frank Millers) and pasted a logo and a meg count on it.

The cart does exist, but the one shown their is the NGF one. I've seen other conversions as well. Ganryu was never released on HC.

Your new, read the old posts about NGF

*Whew*

I was shocked when I first saw it. Wait, they converted it with their computer using hardware to port it to an Aes cart, right?

Does that always work?

Why did you choose Frank Miller's ugly art, NGF? lol
You shoulda used something else~! :P

Yeah, someone pointed this out a while ago.

It should be on the NGF list if it isn't already.

I remember this being brought up a while back. Someone should report NGF when they get the chance, I would but I don't know who to report it to.

Bobak, possibly Dark Horse comics in that Miller's "Hard Boiled" series is (or was) handled by them. Frank knows the Dark Horse folks well and DH may be able to put someone in contact with a contact, y'know? Just a thought.

They used artwork from a well known comic.
Why? Because they don't give a damn who the ripp off.
The fact that NGF used a well known artwork definitely backs up these undisputed statements that NGF:
Backdate's NGF News.
Backdate's NGF's existence.
NGF does not enhance a Neo Geo cartridges performance.
A child is capable of making the so called visual enhancements of a NGF
cart with a common crayon.
NGF deceives and psychologically pressures the uninformed and or insecure.
NGF marks up their merchandise 100% over cost
NGF exploits their customer base and open them up to ridicule with photos on their website.
NGF disrespects potential customers with their grade school insults and elitest attitudes.
NGF destroys authentic SNK merchandise by replacing or altering the
internals/externals of a cartridge and or inserts and manuals
NGF leads you to believe their cartridge conversions are modeled from authentic proto's in their possession.
NGF also made claims that their inserts are printed up fom SNK's "digital files".
DONE.
If you purchase a NGF cartridge, make sure it's at least 50% below the cost of something authentic if in excellent condition, then work your way down in cost pending the condition.

NGF displays the pics, the customers suffer because of the NGF reputation.
I am fully aware of this BBS having a photo gallery and I'm not too crazy about photo galleries period.
Thanks for pointing that out though...

That was me that brought it up a couple months back.

I DID report it to Darkhorse comics.

They sent me a reply that said they would 'Forward it to their lawyer'...

Well, I don't know if they actually DID or not, but NGF still has it up on their site.

BTW, Miller's art is great on those covers!

Power to you, man. Maybe if someone inquires about the new game based on the Darkhorse characters (using the NGF link) and asks where they can get this "cool official game" they'll get off their asses.
