i read the loadtimes in the original neogeo cd system are really bad with newer games.
but im wondering if the cdz is just a 2x as opposed to a 1x is it really improved that much?

thanks in advance for any info

its not even 2x, its just has moore ram supposedly. Its still a bad loading time too, somewhere around 15 secs, where a normal cd is 20. Dont expect too much.

First off, welcome fellow Canadian. Canada rules.

And no, the CDZ has load times just as bad as the regular. Sure it may be a bit better, but it doesnt do much.

And from what I hear, the CDZ is not as durable as the original unit.

The cdz load times are a slight improvement, but in the long run it will tire you.
Some games are hella long on CDZ/CD, (last blade 2 anyone)
While others on the cdz load really quickly, SS4 for example.(neo standards)
You make the call, I got both units and I do prefer the cdz, I also reccomend the damn thing.

Yep, in fact the thing is notorious for over heating.
I have had times with my CDZ where it would load, and the graphics would be garbled.

The cdz is VERY unstable, I think that can be contributed to the over heating issue.
Since that is the main problem.
Makes you afraid to have it on for a long period of time.

I've only seen NG stuff in Toronto. Hamilton has NG stuff here and there, but for the most part its TO. NeoBomberman has a monopoly on NG stuff here.hehehe.

We need to set up a Canadian NG network.

That's your best bet.
As it is a collectors item, as far as use goes do not rely on it. It will dissapoint you, I can guarantee it will.

If you're into collecting Neo stuff, you could consider buying the Front loading version, it's the rarest of the 3 CD systems, and, quite probably, it has been made with the best quality materials...
(it's single speed though...)

I dont know. I have 2 CDZs and I love em! I have had no problems with overheating or anything else. It does have more ram which seems to help a lot in games. I do notice a difference in loading on the CDZ compared to the regular CD. It seems to load more info into the ram, and when it needs to load more, the load times cut shorter then the regular CD.

I dont have a regular CD any more, but I would like to see someone record and compare the loading times on some games. To me, (maybe I am on crack) but I notice a big difference between the two.

It would be cool to see a internal fan mod for the CD units. I am told that the Neo's power cant drive a powerful enough fan...

I have had only one game do this on both CDZs. Fatal Fury 3. It did it in different places in the game. Out of all my CD's thats the only one that consistantly does it. The scary thing is, I tried different copies of Fatal Fury 3 on both the CDZs, they all would garble at some point in the game.
