just got this excerpt from magicbox news site:
----------------------------------------------
Playmore has updated their game release schedule in Japan, KOF2001 and Metal Slug 3 are officially announced for home consoles:

Jul 25 - The King of Fighters '99 (PSone re-release)
Jul 25 - Metal Slug X (PSone re-release)
Aug 8 - The King of Fighters 2000 (Dreamcast)
October - The King of Fighters 2000 (PS2)
December - The King of Fighters 2001 (PS2, DC)
December - Metal Slug 3 (PS2)
------------------------------------------------

I am really glad that finally, SNK/playmore decision makers and business analysts decided to play it smart and go with the flow, develop the ports into the mainstream consoles and release SNK's most revered niche titles namely, the king of fighters and metal slug.

but damn playmore, don't just stop short over there! i hope to see PS2 titles involving their best selling series to be made into PS2 games like maybe a samurai shodown rpg sequel, a 3D SS katana-battle game, or hell even a high res FF or KoF or even an SS fighting game (with 2D graphics and art of guilty gear quality), or even an all new fighting game altogether that would fit right in to PS2.

i am glad that playmore is seeing the light, and the trends to maximize where they can get the most profits developing their games and get "Gaming god" exposure again. to get noticed again in the realm of console gaming. playmore/SNK may yet live another era of gaming greatness and fond memories of their niche software titles to once again grace the "mainstream gaming" land.

you go playmore! you go and port all the SNK hits like rage of the dragons, garou mark of the wolves, or the much anticipated SNK envisioned version of SNK versus Capcom fighting game. playmore is definitely headed in the right direction to make money again in this competitive videogame biz.

all in here think the same say "HELL YEAH!!!"

I've been wanting this for quite some time now. Be careful though, people here will get mad at you for thinking like this...

Fuck them.

Just because they dont like any mainstream systems doesnt mean any poeple who are thrilled about these ports should shut up.

And how to they think Playmore will keep releasing AES/MVS titles anyway? The minimal profits they make off the neo releases? No, they will make more money off these DC and ps2 releases than ever, and HOPEFULLY invest a lot of it back into AES/MVS

I couldn't agree more.

I hope we see MOTW on PS2 (and hopefully Gamecube too), that would really shine.

Finally Playmore has dug its head out of the ground to wake up to today's game market.

Thats not to say they should kill off the NEO GEO while they're at it.

You are a man of vision evasyar. It'd be great if Playmore made some dough off of that. New Neo systems anyone?

I'm all for ports, but ONLY as long as most games (atleast 2D franchises) START with an AES/MVS release, followed by quality ports (if there is such a thing!) :D

excelent, no XboX releases now i get to piss off my friends

These ports are great, it will do 2 things

1. bring more people to look at snk games and make fmore fans of the games.

2. get more money to playmore to develop and produce more games

Good for Playmore!

But I think they should make new games for systems other than the MVS. Admit it - a new Metal Slug built on premium hardware would be great. But an MVS2 would be best. Make games for the MVS2 and port them to the PS2...COME ON PLAYMORE, DO IT!

i think it is great that playmore is making all of these ports even thou i prefer the aes/mvs versions but to let the average gamer play the game at home without spending 300+ for new games i think snk should have done this a long time ago i mean it took them 2 years it seemed like just to port garou and last blade 2 to the dreamcast but it may not be up to my standards but i like going in to a game store and being able to play new snk/playmore games but no one's perfect i think snk was mainly focessing on the mvs/aes market not looking at the hole picture that is my opinion.

Therein lies the problem. i dont think it'll take five to ten yrs and 10+ of their 2D sprite developed games later for them to realize "the whole picture". i mean that was SNK's problem all along, too narrow of a focus. they should realize that other companies had beaten them in hardware development, BUT, they still have some of the most innovative, creative minds over there, i mean, SNK designers came up with some of the most interesting character designs in their 2D games. that is really their niche. they really should go the SEGA route (SEGA got smarter and gave up their hardware R&D to focus on game dev) and just focus on gamesoft development on multiple platforms. damn SNK/Playmore, give up the archaic (altho much beloved AES/MVS). focus on the game development on the more mainstream systems. if they still want the arcade, why dont they try developing for the triforce board. it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure all this out...

New hardware be dandy right now. Be interesting if Playmore was able to bring 2D games to a whole new level of technology [High res games would kick ass.] I wonder if playmore has R&D to get a new system out, though. Well, either way I am definitely adding these ports to my collection.

Hehe, whats the big point? They have been making ports to other systems since they started.

I think they should move up to a better format. The triforce, naomi 2 or anything, then they could make the most beutiful 2D-game ever.

And i don't want those games on a PS2, i have absolutely no plans on buying it, and if a port would come to this system, i could buy the AES-cart instead for paying up for a PS2, the game, sticks and a memory card. Happily the ports announced is coming for dreamcast to.

the reason they dont move off of the mvs, is because every one has one, so they know arcades are definately going to get them

i think they should still move to naomi though.

it has a larger install base than naomi 2, and a hell of a lot larger than tri-foce, which isnt even out yet.

they should definately move to naomi

it is the new arcade operating machine idea

sonic1687 > Naomi has a big userbase but why move to another "old" system. Go for top of the line, and what matter does it make that triforce isn't out yet, i don't think SNK would be ready with a game for the system for at least a year if they started with the hardware now.

Naomi is better, but it will soon be outdated.
