I've recently bought one and I would like to know how it would compare to other Superguns on the market.Any thoughts on this matter?

I've heard that it does not stack up to the Supernova or (of course) the Sigma. I don't have personal experience with one, though.

I hear the picture it produces is absolutely horrible. That's basically what you pay for when you buy a super gun too, the picture.

I bought HGA system for a week before I sold it off and bought a Sigma instead.
Sorry but HGA system is a piece of shit. :o
Its a over priced home made supergun.

First its oversized, big(bigger than GG), made of wood and when you open it, its just a small power supply inside. (WTF?)

Next its Video output sucks, both composite and S-video. Lots of color bleeding.. you can't get a good picture even with the 3 adjustment knob
(R,G,B) very_ang
Scart is not even included.. oh_no
(I still remember the color coding for the standard Yellow, White and Red RCA is wrong. blow_top
Think they misplaced Yellow with red or white, can't remember..)

The controllers suck too, over size controller, bulky and not 100%arcade feeling, made of wood too
:o

All the items are oversized, might as well buy a cab instead. Supergun, controller...
You should have made some research here or else where before buying it. Everybody will tell you its sucks!

Only suggestion for you is either sold the system off quickly or change a better RGB to NTSC encoder for a better picture.

Composite output is weak but nice s-video output.
Not worth 300, they should charge a lot less.

From what I've heard the Sigma is the best, although some here also like the MAS SuperNova. If you get the Sigma, keep in mind the older one (Sigma 6000?) has ports for Neo home sticks, the newer one (Sigma 7000?) doesn't. As to where to get it, check with Neobomberman (Jonathan), he might have an idea.

You can get the Super Nova for $300 directly from MAS System's website. I have the Super Nova and the quality is generally pretty good. As far as the HGA being oversized and made of wood, so too is the Super Nova (over sized and made of wood). The quality, on mine at least, seems pretty damn high.

Now that you've bought the HGA, I seriously doubt Faasl will allow you to return it, regardless of what it says on their site about accepting returns. I bought a Contra board from him and when it arrived I cleaned the board with Electronics Cleaner from Radio Shack (same stuff I use on my MVS carts). When I plugged it in, the board was toast. He fucking blamed it on ME for cleaning it and was extremely arrogant about it as well, telling me any one with basic electronics experience would have known better. WTF is that? When I returned it for repair, he charged me another $30 for it. Then to add insult to injury, a little while later his PC was infected with the Klez virus, sending me 6-8 infected emails a day, to BOTH of my email addresses. He refused to do anything about the problem until I threatened him with invasion of privacy for sending MY email address out to a bunch of other GWT buyers without my consent. He had it fixed the next day.

Fuck GW Trading and Faasl too!

Thanks for all the input, guys! I'm definitely going to sell mine now!!

@Slerch-Did you also have a problem with sound when you hook it up to your TV or receiver? I practically had to turn the volume all the way up to hear the sound!
@Chimp-Thanks for the info.,I'm gonna hit up NBM about the Sigma 6000. drool_2

If you mean the HGA, I never bought one of those. I opted for the Super Nova, although I was really close to buying the HGA... I'm glad I didn't really.

If you meant the sound on my Super Nova, the only thing I could think of that mught cause it to be really quiet would be if you didn't have the volume turned up on the board (I'm pretty sure all MVS boards have main volume and headphone (if it has the headphone jack) volume controls). Try turning the volume up on the board.

As far as selling your HGA, I would try to use GW Trading's return policy. It doesn't hurt to ask. This way you'll get your $300 back, minus shipping, so you can buy the Sigma (although I think the Sigma is more expensive. Granted, it is made of metal).

There is one in the Neo Store but its missing the Jamma Finger board. I am sure someone can make you one for a decent price...... it is really nothing special. Mabey Brigg's can make one for you. wink

The parts should be cheap. You will need a Jamma Harness for the MVS board and a Jamma Fingerboard, I think Bob Robert's has them for sale.

Because the Sigma 6000 has the Joystick ports built in the wiring should be very simple.

Most of the typical wiring is the Right, Left, Up, Down, A,B,C, and D buttons........ For picture quality I would reccomend getting the S-Video cable or have someone make it.

The RCA Video out is also SHIT on the Sigma 6000 I owned a minty one once before and sold it to buy my Candy Cab. The S-Video Quality kicks ass though!!! buttrock

That cable is hard to find supposedly but its nothing more than wire and a few adapters. wink

The Sigma also has stereo out so you just need to adjust the volume on your TV.

Here is a link from ***'s website. I dont support their product in any way but, its the only link I know of for the Sigma 6000.

I just need your e-mail address. I have never been able to figure out how to post pis on this site. YOu can post them after I e-mail them if you like!?!?!?

The main problem w/the vega jr. is actually finding someone who'll sell you thiers!!! Or a store who still carries them. You MIGHT get lucky at an import store or Neo Bomber Man would have the best chance of getting you 1.

-TM

*Wasn't implying that the Sigma sucked, just that IMHO vega jr. type of superguns are tops!!*

Who makes Vega super guns? I've found a few Japanese sites that sell them but no manufacturer. Out of business I guess. Sux, I would want one. frown

Just a warning, don't go after the Sigma 6000 unless you can find an S-video hookup as well as the jamma adaptor mentioned above. The S-video cord is unusual and extremely hard to find.

I run a Sigma 6000 myself now and love it... games like Samurai 64 and Dungeons & Dragons 2 were meant for Neo Geo sticks.
