Ok, I want to break my routine at work, so let’s post something banal.

What would (or would not) you like to see again in SS V?

Personally I would like Kukuro back. buttrock

I do not want to see Rimururu anymore.

I want Zankuro to be a selectable character by defect.

May be some old characters should be back (but most likely I prefer to just keep the most famous in and add many new ones)

I think I would prefer the SS 3 and 4's button configuration system (just one button (D) for kicks).

I would say keep SS IV fatalities system.

I will think about other things later..... (time to produce something).

BTW: Would you prefer SS 1 and 2 drawing style or 3 and 4’s one?

lets just say, I WOULD JUST WANT TO SEE IT PERIOD!

:( I want a new SS game for the series. That was one of the fighters that beat them all (in my opinion).

The best art style was in SSIII. Best endings were in SSII. Best music in SSIII. Best cinemas and cut scenes in SSII. But the best roster was in SSII.

In my opinion.

I'd like to see the Kazama Brothers return.

I'd love to see Gen-An return.

Nicotine.

Cham Cham.

But then if they could bring in Asura/Yuda, it might not be too clean. I could see Yuda and Gen-An and Nicotine in the same game, but not with Seiger or Wan-Fu, and definitely not that piece of shit character Tam Tam.

Out of the 7 released Samurai Games, the Amakusa/Ankokushin/Zankurou arcs seem to be done by 4, so characters like Basara and Shizumaru are done with (I like Shizumaru though), but then the Yuga arc isn't completed because it was even going on in the Razor Trio arc with Mikoto being possessed by Yuga, and Yuda hunting her down to exorcise Yuga from her. So if this game takes place after Asura Zanmaden, it should have Yuda and Shiki (mainly Shiki because of SvC and the fact that she survived the fight with Yuga, whereas Asura supposedly dies ... but then Yuda appears as the amnesiatic Asura... a bit convoluted). At this point though, since it is before the Razor Trio, they could incorporate a young Oboro and Seishirou and Touma's father. spock

You want the roster, I can understand, but not the control. Trust me. It was quite flawed.

If the control was more like Last Blade 2's then the game would be perfect.

I hope it plays more like Samurai Shodown IV but the Samurai Shodown II characters added to the roster. I want some big Neo-Geo sprites! I love the SNK "ZOOM" effect.

I guess if you don't mind not being bout to counter out of a block, the tons of comboes they dropped from SSIII, the SSIII level counter damage (oh yes, you can kill someone in 4 hits easily). I mean, come on. It's not even subjective - the Last Blades had a better game engine than SSIV.

I guess these SSIV lovers are like people with fat fetishes.

in the past month i must of played lastblade 2 about 100 times... ssIV i just started playing against human competition again recently... and i find i have more fun and tighter games on ssIV. sometimes the feel of the game is worth more than how i can describe it on paper...

playing lb2 against reallyyyyyyyyy good players is very frustrating with 2 or 3 big combos taking you out and the ability to play crazy unblockable high low games....

sorry but ssIV all the way for me.

No CD Combo system.

Take away the simplistic DM movements.

B,F,D + AB? Give me a little credit, I'm not that retarded.

Use the 2-on-2 button system, 2 slashes and 2 kicks.

Even though this is a long shot, I'd love to see the duck & roll moves from SSII back. I found that much more enjoyable than the side-step/dodge from the later games in the series.

Bring back some ghosts of the past: Gen-an, Nicotine, Cham Cham.

I'd say to add in Shiki, but I think she is a given at this point.

At least 2 new characters designed from scratch.

*comply with my wishes and I'll be in samurai nirvana.

Easy request here...
PLEASE ALLOW THE CPU TO CHOP IN HALF AND OR BLEED THE HUMAN OPPONENT
This was a feature in SamShoI specifically that forced me to empty my pockets of $$ because It made me very angry.

Each SS game had a complete style all its own with each one being played very differently from the last (that includes the 64 ones). I dont look for a break in tradition. I would love to see the addition of some of the characters from Warriors Rage like Asura and Bust Kazuki (man was he ever cool and fuggin powerful). In terms of graphic style, I really hope they return to the rough edged graphic sytle used in III (my fave in the series) but with new sprites. I would also like to see Cham Cham back. I am sorry SNK, adding her into the PSX version of IV was not good enough.

Are you saying that your friends can't wipe you out in 2 or 3 combos in SSIV? Hahahahaha...ha.

Slash Sougetsu.

EvilMike, back me up here - is it fun to play against my Slash Soggy?

yeah i know slash sogetsu is cheesy as fuck but... its like yashiro or chris in kof (or whip, k9999, etc) what can i do, i think they are cheap but they are within the parameters of the game and their cheapness isnt in a glitch just bad balancing so you cant complain without ppl saying your just bitchin coz you lost :(

for that matter rick, andy, geese and kim are too powerful in rbff2....

what i would do for a really well balanced game, though lb2 does seem pretty well balanced...

believe me when I say that Real Bout 2, all KoFs outside 96 Iori, and most any game is more balanced than SSIV with Soggy. In a match between SSII Ukyo and SSIV Slash Soggy, my money is on Soggy. :)

I feel that Gekka no Kenshi overtook Samurai Spirits after number 3. I've never been a huge fan of 4, it's not a *bad* game, however it's certainly not what it should have been. Bakumatsu Roman Daini Tobari and Bakumatsu Roman Gekka no Kenshi were much better successors if you will to the weapons based 2D fighters. They introduced a lot more aspects such as stellar artwork, amazing control, incredible graphics, basically an unparelled gaming experience.

I'm not really excited over Samurai Spirits 5 because unless they can match at least Zankuro Musouken in overall game quality (Shin Samurai Spirits is probably near impossible to match), this game is probably going to be very disappointing. My question is was this game being worked on during the final months of SNK if any? If it was, how much was completed, was any actual playable game completed? If so this could potentially be a very good game depending on what/if anything had been completed by the old SNK staff.

I liked SSII game engine the best in the SS series. They should retain all the "DOLL" moves in there, it was a crime when they took it out.

As for the Last Blade series, yes the game engine is def refined, BUT, the only thing I wish they had rethink was the "REPEL" button. You do not need a dedicated button for that where they could have used the extra button for another slash. REPEL or that type of BLOCK&COUNTER function should be two buttons like C+D or something, and should only be executable within a BLOCK animation...

The doll moves were the ultimate in kick ass. The one I always use is Hanzo's right after the bakuenryu. I like the nightlight effect. :)

Sure this thread seems to pup up twice a month or so but I don't care. I'll talk about it some more.

Fuck Matrilemelee and SvC....lamage. Fuck pretty much everything except Shodown. Best series ever made.

Noooooowwwwwwwwwww. The word is the sprites for the Shodown characters in SvC are killer so that gives us a lot of hope for a totally redone roster with added 64 characters as well.

Shodown 2 is the best roster wise, presentation wise (very polished) and gameplay wise. Shodown 3 is the best atmosphere wise and coolness wise.

I didn't like the happy go lucky feel of Shodown 2 so I want a very serious and ACCURATE Shodown 5. I want it to borrow heavily from the feudal Japan era or whatever and get back to the class the original Shodown had. There was a story behind EVERYTHING from characters to stages to props...it was all way too cool.

Shodown 5 should be steeped in atmosphere. I have so many ideas for features and stages that I'm tempted to kick down the doors of whomever is developing this and start rammin broomsticks up asses until they let me help.

I'm almost hoping they develop it on next gen hardware because I don't want the game to be limited by MVS standards. If they just go straight for the PS2 or whatever we could have so much more and Playmore would get so much more in return for their efforts.

Very brief and without much detail (since I could go on for days):

Classic 1 on 1 bouts.

Imaginative bonus stages (catching fish in a freezing river, slashing cherry blossum petals, catching flies with chopsticks, cutting down swallows, etc)

Intuative parry/dodge system.
blood, blood and more blood.
interactive backgrounds.

destructible sprites, wounds and torn clothing appear as damage is taken. This could be really cool presentation wise. IE: the motion could freeze very Japan/Samurai film like to detail particularily brutal slashes or combos. Very cinematic focusing on new cuts or torn clothing (CUT OFF HAIR!?!??!?) that may result from said slashes/combos.

A very good story with an intricate character relationship tree. This is very important to me. A cool story makes a good game a great game. Characters should interact with one another EVERYTIME not just with one other character because they were paired up story-wise or whatever. Everyone should be involved with one another in some shape or form.

I'll add more later. Since listing everyone I want in the game (and that's everyone) would take long I will list whom I can do without:

Rimururu

Thank you.
