I am thinking about buying a cab. What do you guys think about this one:

<img src="http://www.jukebox-center.com/DreamHC/%D6vrigt/Neo-Geo%205000.jpg" alt=" - " />

It comes with a 4-slot and 4 games (not quite sure which games yet though). Price is around $600.

Am I getting ripped? Do you see any faults? I think the controlpanel looks weird. Maybe its just a bad pic though...

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I agree. But still, it's really hard to find good cabs located in Sweden :(

And at least it comes with a 4-slot. If I only knew which games... I think puzzlebobble was one at least. And he mentioned a car game. (He's not very into Neo Geo, hehe)

EDIT: Whats bothering me is the controlpanel. It looks like the left side is for lefthanded people. I cant see any buttons to the right of the 2-player stick...

May seem pricey, but considering your location, I'm not sure. Plus, depending on what carts come with it, that makes all the difference in price as some carts are worth far more than others. Try and find out what they are (the title is on the intro screen after all) and use the price guide as a general reference.

The control panel looks okay to me. On the one player side it looks like they're all there: red (A), yellow (B), green (C), blue (D). And on the two player side it seems the stick may just be covering some of the buttons because I see a blue one over there. Ask for a pic of the panel to be sure.

I'd personally try and talk the seller down a bit, again, depending on what carts are included as well as the overall condition of the cab itself.

Good luck. :)

Looking at the tip of the 2nd player's joystick... looks like there's a blue button showing slightly to the right of it. However, yeah, like you said the buttons look more to be arranged in the center :|

Is this a conversion from another cab of some kind... and the guy just didn't have room for all the buttons so he stuck them in the center?

That's what it looks like to me.

Of course you could possibly build a replacement piece of wood for the control spot... remount all the controls in a more standard MVS format... and then you'd be good to go.

But if it turns out it is a crummy conversion... I'd knock a few dollars off that price (assuming you get to see this thing and see the screen doesn't have burn in or something else screwy).

If the guy isn't that knowledgable... teach him wink . buttrock

subcons: Thanks alot for your thoughts. I hope you are right about the controlpanel. I mailed the seller and told him I wanted more pics, especially of the panel.

About the games, well puzzlebobble is in for sure. Also he said "karate game". Probably KoF or something. And "car game". I would guess he's talking about Neo Driftout and that would be awesome because it's quite expensive and I really want that game. Then again maybe it might be Thrash Rally or Overtop...

Last game I am not sure. But the titlescreen seems like it says Top Hunter. Can anyone confirm that?

EDIT. Oh and according to the seller the monitor is in great condition with no burn-ins or anything. Sounds good, still I'll wait and see to judge for myself.

It looks similar to the UK Neo Geo arcade machine, theres a picture of it on Vektorlogic's website. <a href="http://www.vektorlogic.com/" target="_blank">http://www.vektorlogic.com/</a>

Definitely Top Hunter. And Neo Drift Out would be the exact game I'd be hoping for as well. Kind of pricey, but by far my favorite racer on NG. I plan on picking it up down the road myself.

Karate game... shit. That could be anything considering the amount of fighting games on the Neo.

As for the cab itself, I thought I had seen some official Euro cabs that looked like that. One thing I definitely remember is the weird 5-slot marquee, but I thought they had 6-slot boards in them? Could have been changed out for the 4-slot. I'm sure someone here can verify if that's a dedicated or not.

Edit: Yep, that's the one BlindDrunk.

Blind: Similiar, yet different.. hmmm strange :)

Subcons: Driftout would rule. Lets wish that's the car game, hehe. But if this is a euro cab, why would there be the japanese Neo Geo logo on the side? Cant complain though since I think that logo is awesome looking, hehe.

The 5 marquee thingy is weird though... never heard about 5-slotters...

Yeah, the JP logo on the side is weird for a Euro cab. My guess is the side art got fucked, so it got painted over and they slapped a sticker on there or something. The colors on the cab are different, but it appears to be the same cab.

I'd bet it's dedicated and the 6-slot got switched out for a 4 somewhere along the line (for some reason, maybe it got fried?).

Well it doesn't really matter. 4 slots are plenty enough for me, hehe. Although it'll be weird with 5 marquee places, hehe. Also can you see right above the Neo Geo logo, it looks... weird... I wonder what it is spock

Anyways, I like the look of this cab. I'll probably end up buying it unless it looks like crap when I see it in person.

I'd say its worth $600.00.

The bare cabinet alone with no board is worth around $150 to $200.

The 4 slot is worth around $150-$175, you are not even paying any shipping charges (plus you know it works).

The games included should make up the rest of the $600.00....keep in mind you are saving yourself the hassle of paying shipping charges on these also.

Its worth $600.00 Easily, but offer him $500.00 you have nothing to lose. wink

Another thing is amount of burn in the screen. A good monitor is NOT cheap.

Thanks for all your opinions. About the monitor, well, I haven't seen it for myself, but if you are to believe the seller it was changed quite recently and has no burn-ins yet what-so-ever. I suppose I'll see if he's telling the truth of not when I go check it out for myself.

Hmm, it's Top Hunter alright, wonder if that's one of the games included then... oh does anyone have a clue what the thing on the neo geo logo is? It looks weird...

EDIT. What about the marquees, does anyone recognize them? :)

I looked at the site blinddrunk posted... yeah that looks like the same 6 slot system that's been coverted to a 4 slot (probably fried the 6 slot board)

The button layout is not exactly the same as a standard cab though. The 2nd' players buttons are in more of a slightly curved layout.

Not sure if this image will work but here's a try at it:
<img src="http://www.vektorlogic.com/spinmasterneogeo.jpg" alt=" - " />

Also the sticker on the side... looks like it was added on and there wasn't a side sticker orginally.

Hope that helps.

I wouldn't count too much on the mini-marques being right. There's 5 cards up there.. and your getting only 4 games.. so no matter what... it may be a bit off. Plus, giving the guy had a 6 slot at one time (unless he bought it like this).. he's probably changed the games out to some of his worst ones. Although if he really is clueless I wouldn't be too shocked (nor would I count on it) if you found an extra two games in the cab :D

Hmm, see the thing under the marquees. In the cab from the site it clearly says Neo Geo but on the cab I'm looking to buy it seems like it says something longer... weird...

Also it seems like theres some text under the controlpanel on "my" cab.
