A minor correction in your story timeline.

Real Bout Garou Densetsu take place FOR SURE after KOF97 at least.

This is because RBFF marks the 'final death' of Geese, who's still alive i KOF97 Special Team ending.

Most probably the tournament in RBFF can be considered as the KOF for the 98 year (which is otherwise blank, and no, I don't give a shit to NeoBlood).

Anyway, the actual continuity is totally goofed up.

According to Ryuuko no Ken 2, Ryo and Robert must be almost the same age of Geese, say WAY older then the whole FF crew.

KOF is totally out of continuity.

Curiously, the thing come to a good point in Garou MotW.

While being older than Terry, Marco is a disciple of Ryo (not Takuma), this arguing an actual continuity was keeped in mind for Garou.

Always great to see someone else enjoy SNK world the same way as me.

Actually, no. And yes.

After RBFF, Geese is dead in the Garou storyline, but alive in the KoF storyline (in the manga, he's even alive to fight K'!)

What I once read, was that in the KoF manga, after Real Bout, while Geese was falling off Geese Tower, once close to the ground he threw a shippuken to slow his fall, wound up killing some guy on the street with it, and landed on top of a car or something, with Billy Kane standing there watching.

In the Garou Densetsu series however, as we know, Geese died after Real Bout. That was his true & proper end. So there's the explanation. Also, keep in mind that Geese sponsored the tournament one last time following what happened in The King of Fighters '95.
